The Bad Dreams

 From Newt’s place behind the fence, he saw
everything that happened next.Coaches rushed into
the end zone and huddled over his brother.An Synopsis
ambulance came and the two teams watched in
silence as Chris is taken away.Everything was so quiet
that even from miles away, Newt could hear his Dad
talking to his Mom.Dad met Newt in the car park but
dismissed Newt’s question.He then asked the
Hennesseys for help to send Newt home.At 11 p.m,
Dad called Newt and gave him some news about the
well-being of his brother.Newt wanted to visit but his
Dad wouldn’t let him.Despite feeling disappointed,he
obeyed.Left alone, he recalled his chummy times with
Chris.He tried to sleep but each time he closes his
eyes, his mind replayed the nightmarish moments
after Chris’s touchdown.All day, concerned friends and
strangers called asking about Chris’s condition.JJ and
Cecil dropped by on Sunday Afternoon and gave Newt
some CDs to cheer him up.They told him that the
Victory Parade has been cancelled and the rumour
about Reggie Ratner being the one causing Chris to be
in such a state.That rumour caused some Fillmore
Ferrets to vandalised Reggie Ratner’s car, blaming him
for knocking Chris out.Cecil, JJ and Newt then
decided to meet up at Six o’clock the next day for
Halloween. 3

 Character & Characteristics

• NEWTON NEWMAN (NEWT)

 Caring – He asked his parents about Chris whenever he
sees them.He also really wanted to see his
brother at the hospital but his dad wouldn’t let him.
 Obedient son – Despite feeling disappointed that he
cannot visit his brother, he obeyed his parents and didn’t
make a ruckus out of it.
 Good friend – He didn’t want to disappoint his friends by
telling them he hasn’t figured out which character to be
during Halloween.So instead, he said that he didn’t have
time for Halloween, although that failed miserably..
 Thoughtful – He asked his mother if she wanted some
breakfast eventhough he felt sleepy and tired.

 Forgetful (again) – She forgot what type of sliced meat
she brought Newton for lunch.
 Responsible (maybe?) – Mom and Dad searched for
Newton at halftime
• Mrs Hennessy
 Kind – She took care of Newt and send him home.
• Chris Newman
 Loving/Playful – He used to tease and joke with his little
brother when Newt was really young

• Newt really cares for his brother to such an
extent that he even forgot to work on his
halloween costume.
• When Newt was really young, Chris would lean
into Newt’s room at bedtime and teases him
lovingly about the monsters supposedly under
Newt’s bed.

• JJ and Cecil brought Newton some CDs to
cheer him up

We should always be caring especially to family

- Newt really cares for his brother as he is always asking
about him each time he sees his parents.

- Amidst all the stress and worries following Chris’s
situation, Newt is still thoughtful about his mother and
