III. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers the study of plant propagation which involved the proper
application of the different methods of propagating plants. It also covers the proper care
and management of seedlings in the nursery and the establishment of Orchard.
IV. CREDIT 3 units

V. WEEKLY CONTACT HOURS 2 hours lecture/week and 3 hours lab./wk.

RATIONALE

The development of a new plant naturally or artificially without the use of seeds can be
perpetuated through plant propagation to retain the characteristics of plants, increase the number of
plants rapidly and to produce superior strains and disease-resistant plants that will be best suited to
the soil and climate of a place.

In general, young plants are propagated in the nursery with proper care and maintenance.
The young plants are grown to establish the many kinds of orchards and small fruit plantations and
the letter are grown to landscape or beautify homes, public and private buildings, schools, highways,
parks and industrial areas.
