Mushroom Production & Product Development

Details of San Isidro Farmers Credit Cooperative

 San Isidro Farmers Credit Cooperative is a
mushroom farm that begun in 2017.

 After staying at our homestay for 3 days, we have

discovered the process for growing mushrooms at the
San Isidro Farmers Credits Cooperative.

 They sell fresh mushrooms to homes in the

community by going door-to-door.

 Leftover or excess mushrooms are turned into

polvoron, which is sold in a packet of 10 pieces.
 The mushroom farmers also produce a burger
patty, tucino and tempura chips.

DATA CLUSTERING
 The collaboration of the group base on the gathered

useful data and the clustering of similar data together.

 The most highlighted points concerns about space

management of the mushroom stock room, efficiency

of the process for preparing the materials needed in

fruit bags, and the constant temperature of the facility.

IDEATION

 Re-clustering the ideas in order to meet

the Persona’s needs best.
 The main issues that we identified
concerns on the space management of the
facility and efficiency of the process of
preparing the materials for the fruiting
bags.
 Brainstormed for ideas concerning those
two areas (drew on post-its, consolidated
and combined ideas).

The Ideation Process of Mushroom Team

Prototype #1: Storage-efficient Shelves

 Currently, the farm shed has only has

two shelves with four rows and a huge gap
between each row of the shelves.
 Redesigned shelves so that they the
total no. of rows per shelf is increased
(more fruiting bags can be stored on each
shelf).

 Changes to the layout of the farm shed

Is done to accommodate more of the
Redesigned shelves.
 Ability to produce and sell more leads to
increased profits.
Prototype #2: Straw Cutter

 Takes too long for farmers to cut their rice straws and
mix their raw materials to prepare fruiting bags.
 Design of the straw cutter allows straws to be cut
quickly and easily.
Feedback Post-Co Creation
 Stakeholders provided us with a few ideas to improve our second prototype.
 Implementing a mixer to further ease and speed up their labour.
 Adding a weighing scale so that they know the exact quantities of each set of
raw materials required for mixing.
 Changing the material of wood to steel for better durability.

Prototype #2: Straw Cutter & Mixer

 Mixer further reduces the labour and time

needed to prepare the materials.
 Increased rate of production complements the
increase in storage capacity.
