Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

In today's society people more become recreational and people wants to make

sure where the foods come from because people don't want their foods to be transported

over long distances due to the environmental aspects that it gives or bring .This is

probably one of the main reason why more and more people are show in their interest in

growing their own vegetables and herbs for their own safety .another reason why

gardening is an increasingly interesting area is even you just have minimal spaces you

can make a garden especially in apartments big cities ,which in turn results in a need for

smarts systems for growing which can fit on a limited spaces such as balcony.smart

means that it must be easy to use and make it uncomplicated for users to grow their own

vegetables and flowers .And also planter Boxes can play an important role in urban areas

by minimizing storm water runoff, reducing water pollution, and creating a greener and

healthier appearance by retaining stormwater rather than allowing it to directly drain into

nearby sewers. which gardeners help the community by increasing the availability of

nutritious foods, strengthening community ties, reducing environmental hazards,

reducing food miles and creating a more sustainable system.

The drainage layer of a planter box is created by adding a medium such as

pebbles, stones or pumace to the bottom of a pot before adding soil. Soil particles are

very small and tightly packed together, which means that water moves through them

quite slowly. drainage are important in planter box because water that stands for too long

Planter will drown plants by choking out the oxygen supply to the roots, so good

drainage is essential .if the water freely runs out the bottom seams of the box, no other

preparation is necessary.

Hypothesis of the Study

Rice straw,waste paper egg white and peanut shells as as alternative for making plant

box is not probable and efficient.

General Objective

This study is to determine the probability, efficiency and convenience of using

Rice straw,waste paper egg white and peanut shells as as alternative for making plant

box.

Specific Objectives

Based from the aforementioned general objective, the following specific

objectives were drawn:

1. To determine the possible probability of rice straw,waste paper egg white and

peanut shells as as alternative for making plant box in term of :

1.1 probability of using scrap wood for planter box;

1.2efficiency of making plant box ;

2. To describe fermented musa acuminata vinegar as soil fertilizer for tomato

plant in terms of:

2.1 science connectivity;

2.2 innovation;

2.3 advantages to the public and environment;

2.4 material used and;

2.5 application;

3. To determine if the utilization of rice straw,waste paper,egg white and peanut

shells as an alternative component in making plant box is not feasible and effective

Significance of the Study

The goal of this study is to determine if planter box made of rice straw,waste

paper egg white and peanut shells as as alternative for making plant box is probable

effecient and convenient . The outcome of the gathered data seeks to be beneficial to the

following people:

To the Farmers. This study might help to your scrap woods to make a planter

box and how to save space

To the Capitalist. This study will help you to learn how to make planter box

using scrap wood and used materials for business purposes.

To the Future researchers. In the near future, other researchers might also need

this research as one of their reference or as related study. It may also serve as their guide

in constructing their study.

Scope and Delimitation

The scope of this study focuses on making wooden planter box to be used in

minimal spaces to help the gardeners .

Definition of Terms

For the common understanding of this study, following terms are defined to

serve as a common frame of reference:

Effectiveness. The capability of producing a desired result or the ability to

produce desired output. When something is deemed effective, it means it has an

intended or expected outcome, or produces a deep, vivid impression.

Fermentation. The process in which a substance breaks down into a simpler

substance. Microorganism like yeast and bacteria usually play a role in the

fermentation process such as creating wine, yogurt and vinegar.

Fruit bearing. A tree or plant that is producing fruit

West Indies for its clusters of edible yellow fruit and,

Plant growth. Defined as the increasing of plant volume and/mass with or

without formation of new structures such as organs, tissues, cells or cell organelles.

Figure 1 shows the IPO model (Input, Process and Output). The input box

illustrates the essential equipment to make a planter box using rice straw, waste paper egg

Chapter 2

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methodology of the study wherein it discusses the

research design that was applied to this study and the different methods used in gathering

data. It also includes the materials, equipment, and procedure for production of the

product.

This study will use experimental research design in which one or more subjects or

dependent variables are randomly assigned to different treatments and the results are

observe to conclude. This type of research is the most scientifically sophisticated research

method which is concerned with examination of the effect of independent variable on the

dependent variable. The independent variable is manipulated through inventions and the

effect of those inventions is observed on the dependent variable.

Methods of Collecting Data

To gather data, the researcher will make a planter box to achieve the objectives of

the study. The researcher will use Rice straw,waste paper egg white and peanut shells as

as alternative to make planter box and also for the help of the uses of tools it will make

planter box

The following are the materials used in making planter box :
