The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and
other text types serve as means of connecting to the world; also how to use ways of
analysing one-act play and different forms of verbals for him/her to skilfully perform
in a one-act play.
The learner skillfully performs in one-act play through utilizing effective verbal and
non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice,
Delivery, and Dramatic Conventions.
EN9LT-IIIi-16: Analyze literature as a means of connecting to the world
At the end of this lesson, majority of the learners should be able to:
1. Identify what figurative language is
2. Differentiate each figurative language through analyzing examples
3. Choose a song that uses figurative language and tell what figurative language is
used through a group report

Volunteer students will be called to read and answer questions below to assess prior
knowledge.
Constructive approach
Figurative language game
The learners will answer the questions to reveal the picture.
The teacher will play a lyric video of Post Malone’s Sunflower and will ask students to
take not on the figurative language used.
The teacher will discuss the different figurative languages through a powerpoint
presentation
After the brief discussion, examples of figurative laguages will be flashed through a
slide and learners will try to guess what figurative language is used.
Collaborative
The learners will be grouped into 5 and will perform task below.
1. The learners will choose a stanza from their favorite song and explain what
figurative language is used in the song.
The group activity will be presented.
Each group will be graded with the criteria below.
