PLANNED PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Planned preventive maintenance (PPM) allows you to substantially reduce

reactive maintenance

Time-based preventive maintenance is based on a fixed execution frequency of

activities that generates a calendar schedule. A time-based maintenance plan for an
asset is based on a library with maintenance activities and their preset frequency of
execution for that asset.

These process can be based on warranties, supplier instructions, legislation, or

experience. For example, time-based maintenance would allow you to schedule the
yearly inspection.

CONDITIONED BASED PREVENTIVE MAINTANANCE

Condition preventive maintenance aims to predict when an asset might fail and prevent
it from doing so by performing the right maintenance. Condition monitored maintenance
applies to assets that can communicate their actual status in real-time to your
maintenance system.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Preventive maintenance is maintenance that is regularly performed in a workplace. It is

performed while working so that it does not break down unexpectedly. In terms of the
complexity of this maintenance strategy, it falls between reactive (or run-to-failure)
maintenance and predictive maintenance.

Types of preventive maintenance

Preventive maintenance can be scheduled on a time

 Time-based preventive maintenance

 Usage-based preventive maintenance

Time-based preventive maintenance

A typical example of a time-based preventive maintenance trigger is a regular

inspection on a critical piece of equipment that would severely affect production in the
event of a breakdown.

Usage-based preventive maintenance

Usage-based triggers fire after a certain amount of rotation takes place in the clutch
motor.
Implementation of preventive maintenance in industrial sewing machine

The maintenance of the industrial sewing machine is always good enough to provide good
quality oriented seams.

In Apparel, industries are mostly used imported sewing machines. The reason is to gain defect
free seams and stitches. Thus, the preventive maintenance for industrial sewing machines is
considered as very much important.
