INTRODUCTION TO THE TOPIC:

What is Juvenile and Juvenile Delinquents ?

• A “Juvenile” or “Child” means a person who has not
completed eighteen years of age.
• Juvenile delinquents are minor, who have committed
some act that violates the law. These acts
aren’t called “crimes” as they would be for
adults.
• Rather, crimes committed by minors are
called “delinquent acts.”
• Instead of a trial, the juvenile has an
“adjudication,” after which she receives a
“disposition” and a sentence.
• However, juvenile proceedings differ from adult
proceedings in a number of ways.

READY TO LIVE
CRIMINALS REHABLITATED
IN SOCIETY

AIM OF JUVENILE CORRECTION CENTRE

 Rehabilitation is to help a person adapt to, and wherever
possible, recover from an injury or illness.
 Improving quality of life through gaining life
management skills, a sense of direction for the future
and resilience.
Rebuilding social connectedness to family and
community
 Finding a new valued role within the community
 It is obvious that the real substance of corrections
facilities is not the building, it is the people: staff and
inmates, legislators and judges, law enforcements and
public service agency employees, family members and
the general public.
Their positive or negative input and impact, will define
the effectiveness and efficiency of any institution.
Therefore, architecture alone cannot be enough to change
people, but it can make a difference and can greatly affect
the success of any correctional facility.
 My intention is to use psychological aspects of
architecture in the design of the spaces to influence
behavior in the users, and help the children through their
rehabilitation process.
 These aspects being the influence of color and behavior,
the influence of enclosed spaces versus open spaces on
behavior, the influence of volumetric shapes on
behavior, and the influence of open circulation versus
obstructive circulation on behavior among others.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

•The objective of the project is to design a space using a

site, nature and building block to provide a better living
condition to the youth and support the rehab
programmers.

•To design a detention centre which will be more of a

home than a prison.

•A place where they will carved ,nurtured and their

basic rights are preserved.

•There will be disciplined environment but there will

be freedom too for them to explore themselves.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS:

•The architectural design would be done with regard to
construction details in which drawings illustrating the
concerned details.

•The major scope of my study would be through

primary survey which includes case-studies and
interaction with the students and their training
professionals.

•The prime limitation is the lack of availability of

relevant data as less work has been done in this field of
architecture.
STATEMENT CLARIFYING REASON
FOR TAKING UP THE TOPIC:
•Highly interested to this topic.
•To understand the difficulties faced by children and to
create a place which gives them a opportunity for
improving quality of life through gaining life
management skills, a sense of direction for the future
and resilience
•To design such a juvenile correction and rehablitation
centre so that this helps them to understand real goal of
life, love and peace. It will also improve the
environment of the world.
•To provide the all facilities to juveniles.

PROJECT BRIEF:
Karnataka, a one of the biggest state in India, is one of
the richest states in the nation, due to its vast number
of industrial developments and its unlimited number of
natural resources.
Bengaluru City, its capital, is a fast growing city,
having doubled its population in the last fifteen years,
due to its developments. Unfortunately, some of the
side effects of this development have been ignored.
The crime rate among youngsters is growing higher
every year, and there are not enough facilities able to
handle this problem. There is a need for a correctional
facility to service the city of Jaipur and its surrounding
regions.
