Purpose and uses

• Patching
• Repairs
• Fill small voids in brick lining
• Line geometry that is difficult to
brick or cast
• The original no-cement
monolithic
• Fast dryout
Main liner is brick but dished head
geometry does not allow for brick or
casting

Bond Technology

AIR-SET
• Forms an air-setting bond
• Gains additional strength at high
temperature from secondary clay bond

PHOSPHATE
• Will develop a strong chemical bond
above 650°F
• Bond is typically stronger than airset ECLIPSE-80 P (phosphate bonded) submerged in
plastics water for 3 days. 230°F prefired sample has
• Water soluble until 650°F degraded while the 650°F prefired sample
• Susceptible to volatilization in reducing remains unaltered. Note: the 650°F sample slab
atmospheres was broken in MOR test before this hydration test.

Anchoring
Plastics require high holding strength from anchors
due to low ‘green strength’

Ceramic ‘bottle’ anchors are standard and preferred

• Best holding power
• Hold lining all the way to hotface
• Used even if temperature is <2000°F
• Minimum lining thickness without cutting: 6”
• Minimum lining thickness with cutting: 4.5”

Metallic type when needed

• Used for small geometries or thin linings where
large ceramic anchor won’t fit
• ~2000°F limitation for 310SS
• Hexmesh is used for thin, low temp wear linings
8
Installation - during

• Product is ready to use out of the box

• Break into pieces to ensure there are
no cracks or laminations while
installing
• If patching lining, make sure existing
lining is clear of loose material.
GREENSET®-85-P can be used to
wet down lining and promote
adhesion.
• Prevent lining from drying out prior to
completing installation
• Refer to HWI’s official plastic
installation guidelines
