In Kaliyuga, Bhagavath Nama Smaranam is the only way to
make our life peaceful. Today our children are exposed to
severe competition in their day to day life resulting in tension
at a very tender age. Spending about half an hour at least in
Bhagavath Nama Smaranam every day will surely provide
them relief. Our great Rishis and Acharyas have shown us
many ways of remembering our Creator. With the intention of
inculcating such a habit in our children and including this
activity also in their every day schedule, Sri Subramania
Samajam, as a part of its “60th Year Celebrations”, is planning
to conduct a “Test of Skill in Bhagavath Nama Smaranam”
(Test). Salient features of this Test are :
Boys and Girls studying in Std I to XII in schools within
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area are eligible to
take the Test.
The theme of the Test will cover many types of
namasmaranam like recitation of Sahasranama, Sloka,
Stotra, & Bhajan on various Gods – Ganesa, Saraswathi,
Sadgurus, Muruga, Siva, Ambal, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Sri
Krishna, Sri Rama, Aanjaneyar, Ayyappa, Nava Grahas etc.
and Vedas.
The theme is divided into following seven Sections:
1. Single Slokas and Stotras containing five to ten
slokas
2. Longer Stotras like Aaditya Hrudayam, Mahishasura
Mardini Stotram, Kandar Anubhoothi, Skanda
Shashti Kavacham, Subrahmania Bhujangam, Rama
Nama Ramayanam, Hanuman Chalisa, Bhagavath
Geetha etc.
3. Vishnu Sahasranamam & Laksmi Ashtotharam
4. Lalitha Sahasranamam
5. Namasamkeerthanam with simple Namavalis
6. Jayadeva Ashtapadi and Thiruppugazh
7. Veda Parayanam – Sandhyavandana Mantras of own
Sakha, Sri Rudram, Chamakam, Pancha Sooktam etc.
(Restricted to boys whose upanayanam is
completed)
The Test will be oral only and the aim of the Test will be to find
out the skill of the participant in the flow, pronunciation and
swara of recitation.
In each Section the Participant has to recite relevant portion
for a minimum of 15 minutes.
It will be ideal if the participating children render the relevant
Section by heart. However, referring to text/ written matter for
continuity will be allowed.
Children studying up to 5th standard will be allowed to have
moral support. SRI SUBRAMANIA SAMAJAM ( Regd.)
Children can take the Test in more than one Section. (Estd. 1953)
Prizes will be given for each Section separately and same SUVARNA JAYANTHI MANDAPAM
child can receive more than one prize.

The aim of announcing this Test so early is to give sufficient
time to the children to prepare and the parents to coach them
which will result in the participation of children in large
numbers.
