Theoretical Framework

This paper adopted the Gender schema theory was formally introduced by Sandra Bem
(J.C Chrisler,2010) in 1981 as a cognitive theory to explain how individuals become gendered
in society, and how sex-linked characteristics are maintained and transmitted to other members
of a culture. Gender-associated information is predominantly transmuted through society by
way of schemata, or networks of information that allow for some information to be more easily
assimilated than others. Bem argues that there are individual differences in the degree to which
people hold these gender schemata and could even affect food preferences and these differences
are manifested via the degree to which individuals are sex-typed.

The theory explains that from a demographic of people as variable of genders had
different preference causes by different affecting factors specially the society, but this study
focus more on societal of a person and it also includes behavioral and psychological as
mentioned in the statement of the problem. All that data well statistical treated by analyzing
the data by Bivariate Analysis Method all the variables to distinguished the relations of gender
difference in food preference.

The theory may affect another existing one the Difference Approach Gender is
concerned with the construction or the development of the self and implies a theory wherein
individual speaking, thinking, acting, and perceiving are viewed as formed with culturally
specific patterns of behavior that develop over time (Disch, 2008), making gender is just
mythical preference and make such difference such as the existence of homosexuality as great
affecting variable, would significantly influence the data diminishing the demographic of
gender, as mentioned in gender schema theory there is different degree of gender and it could
affect any preference like foods.

Conceptual Framework

The next figure shows the conceptual framework of this paper, as shown an illustration
of Theoretical Framework stated gender difference had a correlation with food preference base
on their sexuality traits in societal, behavioral, and physiological difference, but this data shows
a big gap on degree of gender or spectrum of gender. Food with better mildly strong, spicy,
and little on sweetness may attached to male and for female could get food that is more little
on strong or spiciness and more sweet to cold foods.
