self-employed, casual, contractual and permanent employees indicate that those with more skills

and competencies are more inclined to entrepreneurial activities than to employment.

According to Plamo (2017), he stated that Work Immersion Program plays a significant

role and function upon preparing the students for college, these are: assessments that shapes their

skills and talents, trainings that prepares them for international workplace and programs that can

equip them the standard quality of education. Students under the Academic strands are the ones

that will mostly benefit from the college – adopted program being offered by Senior High School.

Carlos (2018) explained that the Work Immersion Program was conceptualized.

Basically, it aims to expose the students to the harsh realities of environment in a workplace. This

exposure also aims to develop and enhance the work ethics and habits of senior high school

students. It would also serve as an assessment tool on the affectivity of the module designed for

the purpose.

According to Asia Foundation (2019), one way to address Work Immersion is through

the Department of Education’s Senior High School (SHS) program, ushered by the K-12 education

reform. One of its components, the work immersion program, provides students “real workplace”

experience, giving students a set of technical-vocational and livelihood skills that can help them

make more informed career choices and improve their employment prospects.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents a description of the research design used in this study, and the

description of the respondents, research instruments, data collection procedure and statistical

treatment used.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The study is a quantitative type of study and a correlational research. The researcher seeks

to understand what kind of relationships naturally occurring variables have with Work Immersion

Program and students’ Job Readiness. In the case, the independent variable is the Work Immersion

Program and the dependent is the students’ Job Readiness. The information will be used to conduct

further research to determine the aftermath of the on-the-job training conducted. The research

allows to achieve a better understanding of a problem or a situation.

The research sought the trainee’s personal estimation regarding the effect of the DJNRMH

Work Immersion Program towards their Job Readiness. The survey will be answered by the

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

We, the researchers provided a letter in Dr. Jose N. Rodriquez Memorial Hospital

(DJNRMH) for us to approved our study and to allow us to interview every Department Heads of

our respondents.

The respondents’ data will be collected using their Appraisal Form graded by their

respective Department Heads assessing their competencies wherein students rank using the

Competency Bands Scale (1-5) according to each category of the given competencies. The

respondents were permitted to conduct the research gathering with the permission of Ms. Ma.

Lourdes Clamor, OSSA – Head Personnel, Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan, Inc.

This time, we provided a blank Appraisal Form for them to assess their own evaluation of

what they have learned in Work Immersion Program. The forms were then distributed during

school hours and participants are given of fifteen minutes to complete the survey. The participants

were treated equally and received the same form.

The form assessed the student – practicums’ perception about their character and

competencies has brought them after the actual immersion. They had four choices: Outstanding,

gathered will be used to rank each competency in each department. The student’s evaluation sheet

will be grouped according to the seven assigned departments: Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy,

OPD (Out – Patient Department), Engineering Department, IT Department, and Pediatrician
