REFLECTIVE PAPER
TEAM 3
In the modern world everything happens digitally and there is no better platform than the internet
to raise awareness to a large number of people according to me. Therefore, as a team we decided to
create a website on the aim “to raise awareness about gender inequalities in sports.” We took a
survey, which was distributed to different people. We got a total of around 130 responses, our
website had around 130 viewers and we got 15-25 responses and we could effectively change the
way of thinking and the perspective of around 8-10 individuals which is a small number but still a
success on our side. In a group of four, each of us play and follow a lot of sports with all our heart,
we all knew about the gender inequality in sports and could not find an aim we would be more
passionate about. Although taking a really long time in deciding an aim after switching many we
decided one which was practical and which we had an interest towards.

Before the course of this project I was aware about the presence of gender inequality in sports but
never thought of it as a really big concern. After researching, taking surveys and interviewing
coaches I was more aware about the issue and how it affected many factors such as wages,
opportunities and recognition of sports players and was disheartened to know this. Raising
awareness on this issue was cemented in all our minds and as we went ahead with the aim the team
got closer as friends and we learned the importance of each other and how every individual has
something to offer to the team. Without a team like this, this project wouldn’t have been as
effective.

Deciding an aim for the project consumed a lot of time which could have been put elsewhere to
make our project more effective. At start the whole team wasn’t very serious and we took this
project lightly delaying a few deadlines not giving work which was up to the mark and not putting
our hundred percent. This led to a lot of work being piled up which put a lot of pressure on the
team. However, we understood the importance of this project strongly and realized how important
it is to follow the deadlines in order to have an effective project. As a team we were very strong, we
distributed work by evaluating what each one is good at, we always listened to the ideas of the other
members and we never had arguments over any point and we always came to a conclusion together.
Although we had a leader, each one of us was handling the group over the period of this project
which made the working experience for each one of us pleasant. It took us time to get serious but
after a while each one of us submitted our part before the deadline.

The project we did had a few flaws which if given a chance could be made better and not repeated.
Although we took a few cultural perspectives we could have taken more which would have made
our project more efficient and successful. We should have started taking the project seriously from
the beginning which would have reduced the pressure on us and we could have focused more on
our outcome. We also wasted a lot of time in deciding the aim for our project which we could have
done faster, which led to confusions and the whole team had to hurry at each step which made our
project less efficient. I learned a lot during this project. I have now understood how hard it is to
obtain primary information and have understood how to go about in collecting primary information
effectively. My researching skills have enhanced and I have learned how to work in a team well. I
have gained a lot of information and learned a lot about the topic and how gender inequality is a big
issue, my view towards the topic has changed and I think and look at things differently.

Researching well and getting the right people to take your survey according to your topic is very
important, if the wrong set of people take your survey your outcome may be completely inaccurate
and the point of the project is lost. Before starting the project consult your teacher/tutor to help you
decide and understand your aim as if the aim is not understood well the project will be invalid. At
every step of the process check your work as if it is wrong it can be corrected immediately otherwise
at the end it may get hard to correct. Look at different other projects done by other groups in the
past years in order to gain a better understanding of what the project expects, this will help your
project be more effective and the course of the project more organized.
