FUNDAMENTAL IDEAS OF ARRIGO SACCHI STRATEGY OF PLAY

- Spirit of initiative, possession of the ball and continuous search for attack solution.

- Zone defensive strategy with a short and tight team arrange according to a 1442 back
four.

- Extreme dynamism requiring the movement of all the players both with and without
the ball.

- Pressure on the opponents, double marking and territorial marking according to


schemes but keep the team active and involved even when the ball is in the opponent
possession.

Exercises designed to help the players

- Believe in the possession of the ball and not the holding of it.

- Pressure and speed are highly spectacle and effective


components to reach a positive score.

- The idea of a short team, the idea of a tight team, the idea of
an aggressive team are repeated continuously to make them
become a natural skill of the player.

Defensive Phase

- While in the defensive phase there will be some situations of


pressure, of double marking, of offside, of defensive
flexibility, of diagonal arrangements, of territorial marking, of
man-to-man marking and of group marking.

Attacking Phase

- In the attacking phase there will be situations of overlapping,


of crisscrossing, of movements without the ball, of
breakaways, all possibly at the right time as Arrigo Sacchi

Attack Schemes Technical-Tactical


Exercises

- Attack schemes characterized by swift movements, very


quick passes in triangulation, crisscrossing of the forwards
and shots at goal are tried in parallel to the defensive
exercises.
- In this exercises, particular care should be given to the
repetition of the execution and the dynamism of the players.
