Day 2 (7 Hrs)

 Mechanized sweeper ride
 Mechanized scrubbing machine
Using diagrams, pictures, etc. and identification of components

Practical: P: 5 hrs
 Demonstrate how to clean with:-
o Vacuum cleaner
o Mechanical sweeper
o Mechanized sweeper ride
o Mechanized scrubbing machine
 Usage of all Mechanical Equipment in Groups
 Shut down of equipment
 Cleaning and upkeep of equipment, including changing of filters
 Appropriate disposal of waste collected by the equipment

6 Information about Manual Scavenging Act, 2013 / 2016 5 hours


 What is Manual Scavenging? (Demonstration through pictures)
 Hazards associated with Manual Scavenging T: 2.5 hrs
 Restriction on Manual Scavenging by Government regulations.
 Why manual scavenging is prohibited
 Exceptional conditions under which Manual cleaning of sewers is
allowed

Day 5 (7 Hrs)
10 Maintaining Personal Health and Safety while Cleaning 2 hours
 Requirement of Personal Cleanliness and Hygiene. T: 1hrs
 Proper personal Health and safety tools including gloves and masks.
 Locate first aid box and take action in case of self-injury.
 Hazards associated waste/garbage handling;
 Work safety procedures and instructions while cleaning, collection,
segregation and transportation of waste;

Practical: P: 1hr
 Demonstrate proper use of Gloves and Masks.
 Demonstrate steps to be followed to maintain personal cleanliness while
working.
