Overview

General
The configuration and status parameters for this product are organised in a tree structure - just like
the file directory of a computer. Parameters can either be single control parameters and also more
complex structures like tables.
Each parameter in the system has a unique path within the product. For example, the path "/Device
Info/Modules" refer to the table that contains the module list for the unit.
The WEB interface provides the buttons and screens to navigate through this system.

Screen overview
The basic screen is divided into two parts: The upper part is where the contents of a folder or table is
presented. The lower part is a result window that presents a list of the action results. The figure below
shows the layout:

1. Navigation bar
The different web pages are separated into several tabs. Click on a specific tab to show its
contents.

2. Folder/table name
When folders or tables are shown, this text indicates the name and path of the current
folder/table.

3. Toolbar
This toolbar contains buttons to do various actions, dependent on the view that is shown.

4. Subfolders
This area of the screen shows links to subfolders or tables. Click on a row to navigate down in
the folder hierarchy.

5. Parameters
The lower part of the screen shows the parameters together with values and descriptions.
You can change parameters by typing/selecting new values and then press the "Apply
Changes" button.

6. Result frame
The result frame shows the results of command actions.

Parameter presentation
The following parameter symbols are used throughout the interface:

This icon is used to represent a folder in the system. A folder is similar to a directory in a file
system.

This icon is used to represent a table. A table normally consists of multiple items, where
each item consists of several fields.

All parameters in the system have a description text that explains the parameter more in detail. Look
out for the description in folder headers and to the right of individual parameters.

Navigation

Navigation in the system is very similar to navigating in an "Windows explorer" type of application.
Click on folders/tables and use back/up buttons to navigate up and down in the tree.
To enter a subfolder or a table, just click on the table or folder row in a folder view.
Two other icons used for navigation are as follows:

Click on this icon to navigate one step up (to the parent folder) in the folder structure.

Click on this icon to navigate back to the previous view. This icon typically appears when
you are editing a single record in a table or a subtable of a table.

Note: When you navigate down in the folder structure, the screen will show the complete path to
where you are. For example, "Device Info > Modules" will be shown when you click on the "Modules"
table under the "Device Info" tab.
When you switch between tabs, the browser will remember the path for each tab. E.g. when switching
from and to the "Device Info" tab, you will be taken to the page you last visited.

General Commands

The following table explains the commands available for folders:

Apply Click on this button to apply the changes you have performed to parameters in this
Changes view. The result of your actions will be shown in the result window below.

Click on this button to refresh the current screen. This may be very useful if the
Refresh screen contains read-only status paramterers like measured bitrates etc.

Table operations

There are two differen ways to view a table. When tables are entered, you first get an overview of the
table contents. Each row is presented together with each field value.
When table records (items) are edited, the view becomes similar to a folder view.

Commands in table overview screen

The following commands may appear in a table overview screen:

These buttons are used to navigate in the table contents in case it is too large to
fit into one screen. Counted from left, the symbols mean move to start, previous
screen, next screen and finally, move to end of table.

In case you are allowed to add items to a table, press this button to add a new
Add Item item into the table. You will be taken to the "New item" screen in the table.

Delete In case you are allowed to delete items from a table, press this button to delete
Selected selected items. You select items by clicking the checkboxes in front of each row.

Delete All Press this button to delete all items in a table. Note that this will delete the entire
table, not only the items you may see on the screen at any time.

Commands in "Edit item" / "New item"

The commands in a record edit view are similar to the folder view. The following list shows the basic
commands:

This button will be shown when you add a new item to a table. Click on this
Add button to accept and add the new item.

Apply This button is shown when you click on an item in a table. Click on this button to
Changes accept the changes to the table.

Result presentation

Operation results are normally presented in the result window at the bottom of the screen. The
header row in the window shows the overall action result. The table below the main row may contain
several rows with information on the task you tried to accomplish.

Result: SUCCESS
For simple parameter settings, the result will typically only be a green header row that indicates
SUCCESS.
The result may be presented like this:

Result: SUCCESS

Result: SUCCESS with Warnings

For more complex tasks, warnings may be generated. This will typically be the case when
configuration files are uploaded to the product. The result may be presented like this:

Result: SUCCESS with warnings

Type Description
Warning Skipping 'Components', subtable to empty Table 'Services' [L68]
Warning Skipping 'Descramble', subtable to empty Table 'Services' [L74]
Note Wrote 0 bytes to Downloaded Tables
Note Transaction performed (2490 bytes received)
Note Wrote 2490 bytes to 12-Content Extractor
Note Transaction performed (10161 bytes received)

Result: ERROR
When critical errors are encountered as a result of a configuration request, the header row of the
result window will be clearly red. The table below contains the list of notes, warnings or errors related
to the result, as shown in this example:

Result: ERROR
Type Description
Error XML invalid character [L1]
Note Transaction aborted

Troubleshooting

When clicking on any tab, I want to be taken to the top (root) level for that tab. How?
Reconnect to the device with the WEB browser or click on the device icon in the TDC. This will
force the browser to "forget" the location you had navigated to for each tab.
