METHOD STATEMENT FOR CONCRETING OF RETAINING WALLS AND

COLUMNS

OBJECTIVES: To formulate guide lines for placing, compacting and finishing of concrete work.

REFERANCE: Drawings

Inspection and test plan

EQUIPMENTS: Batching plant

Testing equipments / moulds / thermometer

Crane and skip buckets or pump car

1 Check the preceding activities & the approval Supervisor AE
for R/F & F/W are in order
2 Study the pouring patterns for long sections of AE SM
retaining walls and arrange the machinery as
required
3 Fix and arranged the working platforms, guard Foreman Supervisor
rails, ramps as per the safety requirement and Safety officer
effectively
4 Place the equipment in positions and check the Foreman Supervisor
working condition

5 Request for inspection AE SM

6 Order ready mix to the site and check the AE SM
dispatch order for grade, quantity and type of
cement
 7 Sampling and testing of fresh concrete(slump, AE SM
temperature, casting of cubes)
8 Place the concrete by means of skip bucket and Supervisor AE
crane, or pump car to the specified thickness to
avoid cold joints according to pouring chart.
Trimmy pipes will also be used to avoid free fall
more than 1.5m, where necessary.
9 Compact the laid concrete to its full depths by Foreman AE
using poker vibrators until the cessation of air Supervisor
bubbles coming up from top
9 Check for any defects such as grout leaks, Foreman AE
displacement of alignment or plumbing due Supervisor
angle supports, while on concreting
10 Coordinate with plant for correct quantities and Foreman AE
time of batching to avoid delays Supervisor
11 Finish the concrete to the required level Foreman Site Engineer

12 Ensure the HSE during the entire process Safety officer Site Engineer

2 Ready mix dispatch
3 Pre inspection for concreting
