Term Explanation
General flow control: General flow control is implemented by cooperation of functional modules. The
general flow control is usually applied to the A interface and C/D interface. General flow control is
used when the traffic is heavy or when location update and authentication of many subscribers occur
within a short period after the system is restarted. In this way, the system breakdown caused by link
congestion or CPU overload is avoided.
Enhanced flow control: The enhanced flow control is implemented by an independent enhanced flow
control module in the system. Enhanced flow control is used when the traffic is heavy or when
location update and authentication of many subscribers occur within a short period after the system
is restarted. In this way, the system breakdown caused by link congestion or CPU overload is
avoided.
Function Description
Term Explanation
ACC flow control: The auto congestion control (ACC) is initiated by the congested MSC Server and
implemented by the adjacent MSC Server when the voice channel is overloaded due to heavy traffic to an
office.
Function Description
Terms Explanation
QoS flow control: The quality of service (QoS) flow control means that the switching equipment selects
the route according to the bearer quality between intra-office media gateways or between the outgoing
media gateway and the outgoing office direction, or according to the bearer quality of the IP domain. If the
bearer quality of a certain channel is low, the switching equipment can control the channel based on the
configured call restriction parameters and the call restriction threshold. When the bearer quality of the
channel is recovered, the switching equipment recovers the call based on the call restriction recovery
parameters.
Function Description
Function
SET QOSPARA is used to set an IP quality of service (QoS) parameter record in the configuration
database. The IP QoS parameter record applies to the following:
IP bearers in a specified IP domain
IP bearers between media gateways (MGWs) controlled by the MSOFTX3000
IP bearers between an MGW controlled by the MSOFTX3000 and an MGW controlled by the peer
mobile switching center (MSC) server
Note
Inappropriate values of QoS parameters affect traffic transmission within the MSOFTX3000 or
between the MSOFTX3000 and the peer MSC server. Therefore, exercise caution when running SET
QOSPARA.
The QoS parameters configured by running SET QOSPARA are valid only when the following
conditions are met:
IP bearers are used between MGWs controlled by the MSOFTX3000 or between an MGW
controlled by the MSOFTX3000 and an MGW controlled by the peer MSC server.
The IP QoS sampling function and the IP QoS flow control function are enabled.
NOTE:
The IP QoS sampling function is controlled by bit 1 of P353. By default, bit 1 of P353 is set
to 0, indicating that the IP QoS sampling function is disabled.
The IP QoS sampling mode is controlled by bit 15 of P377. By default, bit 15 of P377 is set
to 1, indicating that inter-MSC and intra-MSC call samples are used for IP QoS checks.
The IP QoS flow control function is controlled by bit 2 of P353. By default, bit 2 of P353 is
set to 0, indicating that the IP QoS flow control function is disabled.
When multiple WCDB modules capable of trunk searching function are configured, QoS parameters
configured by running SET QOSPARA are effective on each WCDB module.

Service brand control flow: The service brand flow control implements flow control on IN services based
on the enhanced flow control principles. Based on different combinations of the service key, calling
number, called number and SCF flag, the MSOFTX3000 defines an IN call service as a brand and
specifies the service traffic handling mode of this brand when the MSC/SSP is overloaded. In addition, a
service brand flow control level must be defined for the service brand whose handling mode is specified
as flow control. The flow control module adopts the enhanced flow control mode based on the priority.

HTR control flow: The hard to reach (HTR) flow control means that the switching equipment can auto
restrict calls from specified incoming trunks or callers to the specified destination codes when the
destination codes are hard to reach and the percentage of such calls reaches the preset threshold. If
the switching equipment judges that the call can reach the destination code, the switching equipment
automatically cancels the call restriction.
HLR HTR control flow: The HLR HTR enhanced flow control is the mechanism used by the system
when the C/D interface link is congested due to the over-frequent retrieval of authentication set flow
(including the flows during location update and service access) and location update flow between the
MSOFTX3000 and the HLR.
