How to move your immigration case to a

different court.

When you leave the shelter and any time you move after that, it is important to fill out two forms: a Change of Venue
form and a Change of Address (E-33) form. To ask the court to move your appointment to a court closer to where you
live, you must fill out and mail the Change of Venue form. To notify the court of your new address, you must also fill out
and mail the Change of Address (E-33) form. Remember that the court has to agree to move your appointment to a
different court and the court will not agree to move your appointment until you fill out and mail both of these forms. If
you do not fill out these forms, the court will not know where you live and will not be able to mail you a notice of your
next court date. Without the notice, you might miss your court date and the judge will order you deported.

To request the court move your appointment to a court closer to your new home: the Change of Venue form.
A Change of Venue form is included in your packet of information.
1) Write the address of the court where you currently have your appointment on the two blank lines at the top of
the page. Find this address in the “Court/DHS OCC Address List” included in your information packet.
2) Write your name on the top line, “Respondent.”
3) Write your A number on the line with the letter “A.”
4) Write your new address and phone number on the blank lines in the middle of the page.

the bottom of the page. Find this address in the “Court/DHS OCC Address List” in your information packet.

7) Make two (2) copies.
