All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a statutory body established
by an Act of Parliament with a view to proper planning and coordinated development of the
Technical Education system throughout the country, the promotion of qualitative
improvement of such education in relation to planned quantitative growth and the
regulation and proper maintenance of norms and standards in the technical education
system and for matters connected therewith.
UK India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI) started in April 2006 with the
aim of enhancing educational links between India and the UK. It has been recognized as a key
multi stakeholder programme that has strengthened the educational relations between the
two countries and been successful in covering all segments of the education sector.
UKIERI is funded from the UK by Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy,
Foreign and Commonwealth Office, British Council, Scottish Government, Welsh
Government and Department for Economy; and from India by Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Department for Science and Technology, Ministry of Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship, University Grants Commission and All India Council for Technical
Education.
AICTE signed an implementation agreement with Department for Business, Energy and
Industrial Strategy (DBEIS), UK on 06th September, 2016 for the joint operation of the
activities under UK India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Phase-III.
Training Methodology
Under the Leadership development program in the AY 2017-18, four workshops were
conducted in a year. These delegates will be split into smaller groups for group work, etc.
The delegates work towards acquiring the leadership skills and shall involve independent
task & assignments. Successful completion of the Change Project and a written assignment
will allow each delegate of the team to receive the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and
Management.
The AICTE and British Council has agreed to train 200 delegates under the Leadership &
Management program in the Academic year 2018-19. The participants from AICTE
approved institutes/ Polytechnics can apply either individually or in the form of institutional
teams, comprising of no more than 03 participants from each institute.
Details about the workshops
In the AY 2018-19, three workshops will be conducted. The tentative timeline for
Leadership development program is as under: -

Selection Criteria
The short listing of the applicants for Leadership and Management Programme will be done
by a duly constituted Committee of members from AICTE and British Council.
The details or regulations are subject to change at the discretion of the joint Committee
of AICTE and British Council.
