Synopsis: The two detectives are
watching their subject through the
observation window of the
interrogation room discussing their
“good cop, bad cop” roles.
JORDAN
Leave him in there awhile?
GROSSMAN
Yeah, it shouldn’t take this guy too long
to sweat.
JORDAN
You want me to handle this one?
GROSSMAN
No, we should double up on him.
JORDAN
Yeah, that will rattle him.
(pause)
Good cop, bad?
GROSSMAN
You bet. That’s what we do best.
JORDAN
Oh yeah, nobody can touch us on that
technique.
JORDAN
Hey, how bout we switch places. You be
the bad cop, I’ll be the good cop?
GROSSMAN
Not this time. I don’t want this to go
bad. He may be our best shot at finding
the killer.
JORDAN
Yeah, you’re right.
JORDAN
Why am I always the bad cop?
GROSSMAN
Because you’re good at it.

JORDAN
I know, but ...it gets kind of old.
GROSSMAN
I hear you. It does get old, but it
works.
They are back to the window, but Jordan is in his own head.
JORDAN
You think I would do good with the good
cop thing?
GROSSMAN
(snickering)
No. You’re a little too rough around the
edges, partner.
JORDAN
I can be nice.
GROSSMAN
Yes, Jordan, I know. But it’s not just
about being nice. The good cop has to
lead and manipulate the conversation.
There’ a delicate psychology to the
process.
JORDAN
Yeah, yeah.
(pause)
Well, you know, there’s a delicate
psychology to what I do. It’s like a
fighter knowing when to punch, when to
jab and when to let the guy breath, you
know.
GROSSMAN
Yeah, that’s ...that’s delicate.
JORDAN
So, maybe next time...
