Good day!
I am Joellyn Palacios Aplacador, one of those students who did not qualify to enter
Ateneo de Manila University but I am really eager to study at the said school. I am writing this
letter of appeal for my admission and scholarship decision. I am a trailblazer of ADMU -
Pathways to Higher Education and I undergo three summer programs of Alay Ni Ignacio from
Grade 9 to Grade 11. Ateneo is like my second school and I am always proud to tell everyone
whenever I am going to Ateneo to attend activities under the said programs, most especially,
the Pathways Programs. I am really fortunate to have experience these engagements in Ateneo.
There are other universities and colleges who are offering higher education but I believe the
Atenean Education is what this country needs. Pathways is teaching and training us in an
Atenean way. I have known myself better and improved a lot. I believe I can be more when I
become a student in this school.

I know the Office of Admission has carefully evaluated the applicants. I am also aware
that it is really hard for them to choose and decide. Ateneo has been my dream school since my
first step in the campus. I always see myself studying in this school, vividly. I admire the
educational system of Ateneo ever since. I know a lot of alumni from the school and I saw how
great of a person they are. I invested much time preparing for the entrance exam, preparing
the application requirements and preparing myself, even on the possible downfall. Moreover, I
cannot let go of Ateneo that easy. I know it will be really hard but I cannot let go of the chance
to give my dream school another shot.

I am humbly asking for a chance to consider my application. If I will be accepted in this

dream school of mine, I will be forever grateful. If there is a need for me to be a student
assistant and offer my spare time in the school, I will gladly accept it. I know in Ateneo I can do
more to help create a positive change not only in our country but in the world. I will not waste
the chance Ateneo will give if I may be accepted. I promise to make the most out of my stay. I
will not break your trusts, I will not fail you. Please give me a chance.

Thank you for your kind hearts and for considering my letter of appeal. I am really
hoping to climb the hill. I humbly ask for a chance, and I will prove to you that I am deserving of
this chance.

LIST OF AWARDS

For the past six years of high school, most of it is spent developing my skills and
competencies. Grade 8 (2016), I have been accepted to be part of Pathways to Higher
Education. Summer before going to Grade 9 (2016), I went to a summer program of Alay Ni
Ignacio. Unfortunately, I did not graduate. Summers before Grade 10 (2017) and 11 (2018), I
went to the same program, and I graduated both years.

I was awarded With Honors consistently from Grade 9 to Grade 11. I also received Humility
Award and Charity Award from my current school during Grade 11.

Grade 11, I won 7th Place in Editorial Writing at the Mini-District Secondary Schools Press
Conference. I was awarded 1st Place as a Sports Writer in Collaboration Desktop Publishing at
District Secondary Schools Press Conference. Moreover, I won 5th Place in Sports Writing at the
Division Secondary Schools Press Conference and had the chance to go to the Regional
Secondary Schools Press Conference and bragged 8th place.

Summer 2019, I participated in Swiss Re Start-Up Academy with the help of Pathways and our
group won 2nd Place for our business start-up idea.

After this, I was hired at McDonald's Tandang Sora as a part time service crew for 7 months,
from May - December 2019.

Grade 12, while I was a working student, I won 3rd and 1st in Sports Writing at the Mini-District
and District Secondary Schools Press Conference, accordingly. I currently appointed as the
Sports Editor of Marian Gazette, the official school publication of our school. Moreover, I was
awarded With Honors and another Charity Award for the first semester.

Before Christmas Break, Pathways in partnership with Synpulse and Aiducation conducted
Synpulse Project Management Academy. Our group won 1st place with the idea of putting plug-
ins on social media interface to reduce if not eradicate fake news.

My recent achievement is the Best Thesis Awardee for our research about the Assessment of
the Emotional Quotient of Only Child Students and Students with Siblings at Immaculate
Conception Cathedral School. I am also currently a nominee for the Ambassador Yuchengco
National Discipline Award.

I am also volunteering for the community activities as a part of the Parish Youth Ministry.
