Universitas Sali al aitaam

Greetings to the Van Deventer-Mas Indonesia Foundation, in this page I will explain who I am and
what my study life is like, as well as my convincing reasons for becoming one of the VDMI
scholarship recipients.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Marlan Juniper Saputra Ambarita, I am usually called Marlan, I
come from Simarata, Toba district, North Sumatra Province, I was born in Jakarta, June 3 2003. I am
the first child of 4 siblings. I was born into a family that is very harmonious, loves each other, respects
each other and always teaches the meaning of togetherness. My father was a farm laborer who worked
every day in other people’s fields to meet the family’s needs. He is a very strong father figure, he
always taught us about the meaning of giving to others even though our own family was very
difficult. According to him, if we give to each other or help each other, we will get good luck. As for
my mother, she is a very great housewife, she is also a farmer in her own field, she works hard to earn
money to pay for my studies and pay for my younger brother’s school. My mother and father also
often borrow money from the bank or from the family to pay for my college fees and my younger
sibling’s school fees. My father and mother really hope that I will study well and diligently so that I
can become a successful person and can help my family in improving their poor economic situation to
be even better.

Regarding my studies, I completed elementary school at SDN Motung in 2010, continued my junior
high school (SMP) studies at SMP NEGERI 2 ONE ATAP SIBISA, in 2016, and senior high school
(SMA) at SMA N1 AJIBATA, then continued studying at the University Sali Al Aitaam Bandung. At
first I didn’t want to go to college because I knew my family’s economic situation couldn’t afford my
tuition fees, especially since private universities are certainly very expensive and require a lot of
money and my younger siblings are still in the 2nd grade of high school and 3rd grade of elementary
school. I don’t want to burden my parents, especially since they are now old, of course if they work
hard they will get sick. But my parents were still determined to send me to the university I chose,
namely Sali Al Aitaam University, they said, “You have to go to college so you can study and become
a successful person and in the future can help your father and mother.” Due to the enthusiasm and
encouragement of my parents, I am now in my 4th semester at Sali Al-Aitaam University, Faculty of
Law, Bachelor of Law Department. The reason I chose to major in law is because legal science has
good opportunities in the world of work, because legal science is needed in various companies,
starting from government companies. And the legal knowledge that I have gained so far has helped
me know things that I didn’t know before about laws and articles as well as many things that are key
in the law. And the point is that it will be a good provision for me in starting my future dreams.

Regarding organizational activities, I participate in the Legal Studies Student Association organization
on my campus. This organization is an organization that is participated in by students of the legal
studies program. This organization has many activities related to developing student character. From
this organization I learned a lot to further develop my character when socializing with others. In my
organization I was elected as chairman of the entrepreneurship sector.
Why should VDMI select me for a Scholarship? Because I really need this scholarship. The Van
Deventer-Maas Indonesia scholarship assistance can help me, especially my parents, to reduce my
college expenses, so that my parents can meet other needs and pay for the school fees of my younger
siblings who are currently in high school and elementary school. So I really need scholarship
assistance from Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia to help with my studies in this case for my study costs
and needs. I will thank the Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia Foundation if I am selected to be a recipient
of the Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia Scholarship for the assistance that has been an encouragement
and an important role in my studies.

What do I hope if I become a VDMI scholarship recipient? My hope is that if I am selected as a

recipient of the Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia scholarship, I can realize the hopes of my parents and
my future goal, namely to become a successful lawyer. I will be more enthusiastic and active in my
studies and make the best possible use of the scholarship for my study needs so that my studies can
run well and I can realize my hopes and dreams.

What will you give to the environment and society after you finish receiving the scholarship and
graduate from college? I will be very grateful to the Van Deventer-Maas Indonesia foundation and
will dedicate myself to society. I will try my best to repay everything I have gained by doing what
VDMI money gave me, one day I will pay attention to families who need a helping hand and help
them as best I can.
