Professional Development Plan

What are the goals for next six months?

In the next six months my goals are: finish nursing school at Miami Dade College successfully, I also want
to pass the NCLEX RN in the first try, and probably start to work as labor and delivery nurse in a hospital
near home.

How do you plan to achieve the goal for the next six months?

I am going to study very hard following my study guide so I can Graduate in May at Miami Dade college
and pass the NCLEX RN. When I get the nursing license, I will apply for a nursing position on different
hospital websites.

What are the goals for the next 3 years?

My goals for the next 3 year are to continue my education and finish the bachelor's degree in Nursing, I
would like to be working in a major hospital providing quality care along with great colleagues in a
professional and enthusiastic environment.

How you plan to achieve your goals in the next 3 years?

I will enroll at Miami Dade College or Broward College to start the BSN program, while I keep working on
becoming a more experienced nurse by interacting with patients and providing excellent care. In
addition, I will try to maintain a professional approach with all the members of the hospital.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I will see myself working as a director of a women center in a community clinic trying to fulfill the health
needs of the immigrants in my community.

Which professional organization do you belong to?

I belong to the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.

Do you presently belong to an organization which is related to your future in Nursing?

Yes, I belong to NAHN which focuses on advanced health in immigrant communities including the
Hispanic communities.

What are the Standard and Scope of Practice of the Nurses in your future career?

Midwifery practice as conducted by certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and certified midwives (CMs) is
the independent management of women's health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth,
the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and the family planning and gynecologic needs of women.
The CNM and CM practice within a health care system that provides for consultation, collaborative
management, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the client. CNMs and CMs practice in
accord with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-
Midwives (ACNM).

What are the requirements to be certified in your future career?

 Official transcripts from all colleges attended.


 BSN from accredited college or university.
 Current active RN license.
 Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
 Three letters of reference.
 Personal goal statement.
 At least one year of professional nursing experience

How do you plan to achieve this certification?

I would start by enrolling in two of the eleven classes that I need to get my BSN. I would take the part
time route and finish in five semesters. While I am taking the classes part time, I plan to be working in a
local hospital, hopefully in the maternity wing. Working in the hospital will not only give me the year of
professional experience, but also allow me to make meaningful relationships with other nurses, NPs, PAs,
and physicians.

Which professional competencies do you hold? Such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.? And which professional
competencies do you plan to obtain in the next 6 months?

Currently, I am BLS certified. I hope to take a course in PALS soon.

Have you participated in a professional activity? If so, what have you done?

I took a course in Lactation at Jackson Memorial.
