Today, we headed to the planning office in baguio for our weekly report. We reported to architect kim
the happenings and what are the finish works in the project in rosario. We discussed first about the
stakes, I told architect kim that the the new stakes was move away about 300-400cm from the old
stakes. And showed the pictures of the newly establish stakes which have green flags attached. I also
reported that the task she mentioned about f resurveying of the missing stakes was not done. I told
what Engineer CInense said. To contact him if the stake is needed for the layout, since it would be a
waste if the stakes would be missing again if he would be resurvey it. After discussing about it, he printed
out a plan of the garson's subdivision and tasked us to input the new stakes in cadd. She also discussed
to us the details of the meeting she had with the chairman. She said that the riprap for the creek shall
only cover the land of the Rockgold, therefore we would have a re-estimation of the riprap. Architect kim
also discussed to us the drainage system of the subdivision, we are told to estimate for the collar of the
concrete pipes for every 1 meter length. In the discussion of the drainage system, she also mentioned
the advantage of having an in house surveyor from visiting surveyor and why is that the road was first
built and not the drainage system. If you have an in house surveyor, he could pinpoint where the
manholes would be located and have the excavation works started. The in house surveyor could direct
where the works will be while other works are also started, simply with the in house surveyor works with
road and drainage could be done at the same time. Unlike with the visiting surveyor, the visiting
surveyor could only do as much as layouting for the road, since he would not be around all day long or
for the next days, he could not monitor the works of excavation for manhole. But there is an advantage
for a visiting surveyor, in the sagana project the road was first constructed. Therefore it would be easy to
locate where would be the points of the manholes and how far or how close will be the area of
excavation to the road, with that mistakes are lessened unlike with the inhouse surveyor pinpointing
where the manhole would be, if they would be constructing road, there is a chance for revisions or
miscalculations in marking areas for manholes. Manholes from that situation could be very far or very
close. After the discussion with architect kim, Engineer Ry, gave us a work to be done when we get back
in rosario, she tasked us to make a gannt chart schedule of manpower for a project. Engineer Ry taught
us how it is used since we mentoned that it was not taught to us. After discussing with Engineer Ry, We
headed to brgy. Puliwes and had site supervision and inspection of the two storey residential with roof
deck. We checked per floor of the house, we climb up using wooden ladder, since the stairs is still not
constructed.

Architect kim told us about some manholes in the site in rosario being far away from the road. Since it is
the old road there are some manholes that are far, and may not able to catch water.. We also had
encountered problem in the site in baguio where in the stocks of steel bars are rusty, since it is held on
the ground without cover, water flows through it making it rusty. The walls in the comfort room of the
house are also uneven with the other parts of the wall. The workers in baguio are also very tardy, there
work are not synchronized, and they keep talking and talking while working unlike in Rosario that is very
organized. They also kept fighting for small reasons. The pace of their works is very slow, and not very
satisfactory.

While on the discussion about it the problems with the manholes, Engr. Ry intervene and showed us a
solution about the problem, she mentioned that she encountered the same problem in the past, and to
solve it she put a sloping canal directing to the manhole. To prevent the steel bars to rust, engineer Ry
ordered the workers to make a place for the steel bars. The workers made 3 H shape stand on the
ground and put the steel bars there. For the uneven wall in the comfort room, engineer Ry told the lead
man to destroy the 3 layers. Engineer Ry told us that it is better to destroy the three layers than to finish
it with plaster. Since the hollow blocks only cost 6 pesos each compared when you repair it with plaster,
wire mesh will also be included since the plaster would be very thick already and more cement will be
used, it is more costly to repair it with plaster than to destroy it and replaced new blocks. For the
workers, we watch their work the whole time we are in the site; we watch every work they had, in order
for them to speed up a little. We also did fake calling with engineer Ry, to make them rattled and speed
up their work.

Sometimes in constructions we are compelled to destroy something, sometimes it would be better to

destroy than to fix. It is very important to analyze things very carefully and made effective decisions.
Once we see a mistake we should act immediately but with thorough analysis, we don’t know we can
have methods that more appropriate and more effective than the usual solutions.
