I. Objectives
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding of meiosis as one of the
processes producing genetic variations of the Mendelian pattern of
Inheritance.
B. Performance Standard
The learners should be able to report on the importance of variation
plant and animal breeding.
C. Learning Competencies / Objectives Write the LC code for each
The learners should be able to predict phenotypic and genotypic
expressions of traits following simple patterns of inheritance.
Code: S8LT-IVf-18

Teacher’s Activity Materials/Assessment Tool
genotype
Homozygous- when both alleles for the trait are
the same
Heterozygous- when both alleles for the trait
are different
Explain (10 minutes)
The teacher will then introduce to the class the
phenotype and genotype from the work of
Gregor Johann Mendel on his experiment to the Sample of a big Punnett Square
pea plants, and
A step by step presentation on the Punnett
Square.
Elaborate (7 minutes)
The teacher will now let the learners solve problems
using the Punnett square through an activity.
Activity: Filling Up the Punnett Square Activity Sheet
After the activity, each group will report their answers
and the checking of answers will follow (missed
concepts will be emphasized by the teacher).
Evaluate (5 minutes) 20-item Quiz
The learners will predict phenotypic and genotypic
expressions of traits based on the problem given to
them.
Extend (next day)
How to fill in the Punnett Square using two hybrids.
