Using the Range and Terrain Modifiers tables:


You can print tables for the standard game (2 per page) or the expanded game (1 per page).
When firing, select the table corresponding to the target terrain. Cross reference the applicable range row with the applicable weapon column.
The resulting number is the combined range/terrain modifier for the current target, which stays constant from turn to turn for any given
weapon type and target hex.
For example, the Brush/Orchard table shows that at range 6 a German LMG has a combined range+terrain modifier of -1, whereas
a Russian LMG has a combined modifer of -3.
Now add modifiers for firer, leader, and 6+ men in the target hex (which can change from turn to turn) per the reminder below the tables.

Using the Counters


Yellow: These are especially useful when used with the accompanying Range and Terrain Modifiers tables, but can be used alone.
Place a counter representing the sum of range and terrain modifiers next to each firing group for each weapon type in that group,
arranged left to right, from largest weapon to smallest. For example, against a target in woods terrain a German firing group at range 3 for
an LMG and range 4 for an MP and Rifle would place counters 1, -4, and -2 for the LMG, MP, and Rifle respectively.
The counters are only removed or replaced when the group changes targets. This removes the necessity to re-calculate range and terrain
modifiers when firing at the same target over multiple turns.

Green: Can be used to randomly choose men in a target hex. Simply invert and mix a number of counters equal to the number of men in the hex,
and turn over the appropriate number of counters. For example, if a Rifle obtains accuracy against a six-counter hex, invert and mix six
green counters and flip over two of them to determine which two men in the target hex must roll on the Casualty Table.

Tan: Can be placed beside a German firing group as a reminder of the Russian group counter being targeted.

Blue: Can be placed beside a Russian firing group as a reminder of the German group counter being targeted.
