5. Are the stiles and rungs free from sharp edges?
6. Is the ladder free from flaws, cracks and defects?
7. Is the ladder free from corrosion?
8. Are all (top and bottom) anti slip feet in place, secure and free from damage?
9. If the ladders are made of wood are they covered in clear varnish and not paint
which can hide defects.
10. Is the ladder marked with SWL(Safe Working Load)?
11. Suitable for work use?
Step Ladders (Include above & following)
1. Are the stepladders stable when positioned on level ground?
2. Are hinges in place, secure and free from damage?
3. Are brackets/spreaders free from distortion and damage?
Extension Ladders
1. Loose, broken, or missing extension locks.
2. Defective locks that do not seat properly when ladder is extended
3. Frayed or worn rope
4. Single section ladders do not exceed 3 feet in length
5. Two section extension ladders do not exceed 48 feet in length for metal ladders
6. Ladders with more than two sections do not exceed 60 feet in length
