1. What is homonyms
Homonyms are words that sound like but
have different meanings and spelled the
same or not.
2. What are the two types of
homonyms? And give
examples. Homographs- these are words with the
same spelling but different meaning. Like
lead-the metal
lead-attaches to a dog’s collar
pike- the fish
pike- the weapon

Homophones-these are words with the same


sound but with different spellings and
meaning. Like
Place-the location
Plaice-the fish
bear-the animal
Bear-meaning naked

B. Lesson Proper
Task 1: Supply the correct homonym.
Instruction: Select the correct homonym
to complete the following sentences.

1. The girl washed her (hare, hair) with


shampoo. -hair
2. Amelia’s mother put some (flower,
flour) into the cake mixture. -flour
3. The (sun, son) is very bright.

4. She (new, knew) how much the coat

3. What is the importance of studying


homonyms? Learning homonyms and its sub
types help children understand the
context of the sentences that contain
words with multiple meanings.

With our knowledge of the complex uses of


homonyms teaches us how to write and
analyze many forms of figurative language
and cryptic wordplay
