the ability in women to take decisions with
regarded to their life and work and giving
like personal, social economical political
and so on.
Self Help Group is playing a very
important role in the process of financial inclusion
and women empowerment. It is a small group formed
by 10 to 20 members of the some locality in the
together to role their problems and social issues and
they eradicate poverty is through mobilizing their
financial sources of the individual saving, the urban
areas peoples knows about the problems and the
schemes of the government but in rural areas people
having excess awareness of the SHGs, Besides the
comparison have limited access to all kinds of
support transportation, training available but have
more hidden talent which have to be brought into
light and providing marketing knowledge and
financial dealing activates shall provided by the
government
 To know an overview of Self Help Group of
women

The sample is selected in the study areas. Since the
study is for generally the problems faced by the
members of self-help group only aspects related to
members were collected

1. This study is limited only to koppal city.

Overview of SHGs:
Contents:
Self help group are small groups of poor people.
The members of an SHGs face similar problems. They help
each other to solve their problems, SHGs promotes small
saving among their members. The savings are kept with the
bank. This is the common fund in the name of the SHGs.
The SHGs gives small loans to its members from its common
fund.
The ideas size of an SHGs is 10 to 20
members. The group normally consists of
either only men or of only women mixed
groups are generally not preferred women’s
groups are generally found to perform better.
The group should meet regularly
ideally the meeting should be weekly or at last
monthly
The group simple and clear books for all
truncations to be maintained.
All the registers and account books should
be written during the course of the meeting.
All members regularly save a small amount.
The amount may be small but saving have to be a
regular and continues habit with all the members
the savings amount should using for the giving
loans to members the purpose amount rate of
interest schedule of repayment e.t.c, are to be
decided by the group itself.
In every meeting, the SHGs should be
encouraged to discuses and try to find solution to
the problems faced by the members of the group.
The SHGs takes loans from the book and
gives it loan to SHGs members.

poor income group to participate in the SHG for
improving their standard of living.
The study was undertaken for the women
empowerment through SHGs in Koppal rural areas. It is found
that the income of the women has been increased after joining
the SHGs. Self Help Groups are facing numerous problems.
These problems included that social, personal and financial are
to , such can problem will be surjection are to be taken into
the SHGs members in koppal district rural areas and to be
study there. The study results proved that the intervention of
finance through SHGs Linkage Program has positive impact on
women empowerment, in terms of increase in social awareness
and participation, savings habits, income level. Though the
SHGs generate positive impact on the rural economy through
empowering women. In the field of women empower they were
create a employment developing process its can be empower
the women in standard of living her areas.
