Students were met at the door and welcomed in to the classroom. Lesson plans sent Friday for Monday Lesson.
Students were quiet immediately and opened chromebooks and began Bellwork: 25 minutes today because beginning having current events
bellwork that is on chrome books. It was quet and students were each month. Wanting to get to a place where they can compare current
engaged. It was obvious that there were established procedures and events with 20th century topics. (Longer today because of current event
expectations. Gave 2 minute warning on bellwork. Good clip and beginning this task)
morning..asked about weekend. Told went to UA girls BBall game and The plan has a good variety of active engagement strategies: Pair/Share,
saw some of them that were recognized. Explained todays plan (a little)- Musical Shares, written response, note taking,
-leave imperialism. Bell signal (explained a consistent signal) Intermittent closure included throughout plan.
Students were very engaged throughout lesson and respectful when Time has been organized to help ensure that what is needed is covered.

Just a question:
Looking at the last Students will craft a 2-3 sentence summary of Belgium’s
colonization of the Congo. Students who do not complete discussion posts
should submit that night by 11:59 PM. Will the summary require them to
explain the cause of Belgium colonizing the congo? If so, the objective was
met. If not, you might want to change just the summary a little to include at
least one reason Belgium colonized the congo.

Planning: Danielle wants to become more comfortable planning a week or


unit at a time rather than just a daily plan.

Students wrote a reflection on how important knowledge of curent Professionally dressed. Asks for feedback daily and self reflects (mentor

good at knowing current events...up if you could know more. Explained

showed how to do it. Ignore bottom part. Label (topics/events on one
side, 2nd time Who). Take notes-idea of story on one side,and on other
side countries or people on the other side. Explained what will have to
do after the video. Watched news clip. Put quick star next to note that
you found most interesting. CNN 10 Writing: Artificial humans on news
quick. Connecting back to imperial revolution. ? How do you think this
invention will chnage the lives of employees? Do you believe that
artifical intelligences should be used in place of a huan? Are we starting
another industrial Revolution with AI? 5 minutes to write. Record on
bottom half of sheet. Time reminder. Finished writing. Then musical
shares to share what wrote. Passed forward notes. Get notebooks out-
will be taking out notes. Imperialism power point-explained rest of
period expectations. Went through pp allowing time for students to take
notes. Paused in pp to share with partner why Europe had an interst in
Africa. After discussion: Schoology article, discussion post on
schoology. Finish at home if not finished in class. Closure: Share one
idea you learned in class today.

Excellent instructional strategies throughout lesson:


+ Made connections to industrial revolution throughout lesson.
+ Engagement strategies-graphic organizer for notes with space at
bottom to write and interact with what learned in video.
+ Interesting video with informative relevant content
+ Gave time reminders prior to ending tasks
+ Writing on topic that I imagine was of interest to students (AI)
+ Musical shares (engaged students with different students and
with content)
+ Told students what to expect for rest of the class.
+ Paused after a short time to share with partner content just took
notes on. Excellent way to internalize what just took notes on.
+ Excellent job of giving students credit by sharing as class and
restating what said
+ Technology included: article and discussion prompt to be
completed on schoology
+ Short closure

Next steps: She would like to work on get a more diverse students
engaged (answering questions) Raising level of concern with
