ECONOMIC PROFILE
1. Agriculture:

The agricultural land of the barangay has a total land area of


501.1 hectares. The bigger portion of which is devoted to coconut
land. Out of 800 employed persons that belong to the labor force,
90% of them engaged in farming. Most of household annual
income and expenditures is under the trace hold value of poverty
level comprising 61% of the total household belongs to indigent
which are earnings below 12,000/per month and expended for
foods below (7,000.00/per month) the trace hold value of poverty
level.
a. Crop Production:
The number of 720 persons who were engaged in farming,
corn farming and coconut or making “copra” is the major sources of
livelihood of the residents. On crops production the predominant
crops being produced by the farmers are camote, cassava, mais,
gabi, banana, vegetables. These crops were limited only for family
consumption.
In corn farming the traditional methods is used by the
farmers. None adopt the modern technology in farming. Native
crops are most preferred by the farmers.
b. Livestock and Poultry:
Livestock and poultry farming are concentrated only to
backyard projects. One poultry on meat productions owned by Mr.
& Mrs. Sulpicio Gonzaga, one poultry for egg production owned and
operated by the Bacong Farmers & Fisherman Associations that was
being undertaken commercially. Highly costs of feeds and biologic
hinder the farmers to engage in this business.

c. Fish and Aquatic Resources:


The fishing ground in this area is the Sulu Sea. None engaged in
fishing commercially. Fishing is limited only for family consumption.

2. Industry:
a. Commerce & Trade:
Commercial activities are limited only to sari-sari stores, basic
commodities are being sold in said stores. There are 29 sari-sari
stores operates, 2 bakeries, 4 SLP, 4 copra buyers, 4 engage in Buy &
Sell Charcoal Traders, 2 engage in Buy & Sell of Live Stock, 2 engage
in Hog Raising, 2 engage in Poultry Productions and strategically
located in the barangay.
b. Manufacturing:
Barangay Bacong is sufficient in raw materials that can be tapped
for manufacturing industry but technical capabilities and financial
constraints hinder the constituents in this business enterprise.

3. Schools:
Barangay Bacong was increasing on literacy rate. The barangay have
known (2) Day Care Center, Elementary School, Junior High School and
Senior High School and Alternative Learning System (ALS) also present on
the Barangay.

4. Infrastructure:
Barangay Bacong still suffering on inadequate supply of potable
water this is considering as the major problem of the barangay. But
despite with this, the barangay is more advance compared to neighboring
barangay of this municipality.

4. Transportation:
Mostly Tricycle and Motor Single few of them using car.
