SALE OF PARLIAMENTARY PUBLICATIONS THROUGH THE
AGENTS AND APPOINTMENT OF AGENTS

Lok Sabha Secretariat directly appoint its own Agents at various places
throughout India for selling Parliamentary Publications. Such Agents consist of
the following three categories:-

(i) Ordinary Book Sellers;

(ii) Railway Book Stalls; and
(iii) Information Centres (run by the Central Govt. or State Govts.).

The application for appointment as an agent received from a Book-seller

is examined in the Sales & Records Branch of the Secretariat. In case, it is
decided to appoint the Book-seller as the agent of the Secretariat, he is informed
of the decision and supplied with the terms and conditions along with an
application form.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR APPOINTING AGENTS FOR THE

SALE OF LOK SABHA SECRETARIAT PUBLICATIONS

1. The appointment as an agent will be for a period of one year initially and
the agency will be extended further on the basis of Agent’s performance.

2. The agent will be required to open a deposit account with this Secretariat
with a minimum amount of Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five thousand only).

3. Lok Sabha Secretariat has the right to terminate the agency without
assigning any reasons therefore and also amend/modify terms of the
agency after giving 30 days notice.

4. The agent will have to keep at the all times a minimum balance of
Rs.2000/-(Rupees Two Thousand only) to his credit. Whenever the
amount to his credit falls short of this limit, he will be apprised of it and he
is bound to replenish his Deposit Account within one month. In case the
agent fails to replenish his Deposit Account within a period of one month
from the date of issue of the letter, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has the
right to close his Deposit Account and terminate the agency.

5. In case an agent happens to place an order the cost of which is more

than the amount in his deposit account he will be informed about the
position and asked to remit the requisite amount by Bank Draft/Cheque to
enable the Lok Sabha Secretariat to execute the order.

6. The agency is liable to be terminated if the sales effected by any agent

fall below Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five thousand only) per annum.
7. A discount of 25% will be allowed on all Lok Sabha Secretariat
Publications except Calligraphed copies of the Constitution and all sales
shall be made only at the published price excluding taxes, if any.

8. In the case of agent from out-station, the required publications will be sent
by Registered Book-Post. The postal charges shall be paid by the agent.

9. No out-station order for less than Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand only)
will be entertained.

10. The agent will be required to sell the publications at the price fixed by the
Lok Sabha Secretariat. He will not be entitled to recover any extra
charges over and above the fixed price of publications sold across the
counter. In the case of publications sold by post, packing and actual
postage charges incurred by the agent can be charged.

11. The agent shall have to make his own arrangements for the proper
display, advertisement etc. of the Lok Sabha Secretariat Publications and
to put up infront of his shop necessary indications to acquaint the public
about availability of such publications.

12. The publications will be supplied as and when released for sale and
subject to availability of the publications.

13. Any dispute regarding supply of Parliamentary Publications/Periodicals

shall be settled in Delhi/New Delhi.

(1) Customers (Government or private individuals) can purchase publications and souvenir
items with Parliament of India logo on cash payment from the Sales Counter which is
located in Reception Office, Parliament House, New Delhi and Souvenir items with
Parliamentary Museum logo can be purchased from Souvenir Shop in Parliamentary
Library Building, New Delhi. Since pricing of Souvenir items is cost based, this may
vary from time to time.
(2) Publications are also sent by post on receipt of requisite amount by Money Order/Bank
Draft in the name of Executive Officer, Sales & Records Branch, Lok Sabha Secretariat.

For publications supplied by post, postal charges are to be borne by the buyer.

(3) Annual subscription for periodicals for a Calendar year is accepted upto 31st March,
Periodicals are sent to subscribers by book post or registered book post. After 31 March
of a Calendar year, however these can be had, if available on ad-hoc basis, after enquiry.
