“What do you see in these pictures?”

“A mother and a cake, Sir.”

“When was the last time you gave a gift to

your mother?”
“On her last birthday.”

“Why do you think there’s a cake? What do

you think is the celebration?”
“A mother’s birthday.”

“Aside from giving material gifts, how else do

you show your love to your mother?” “By kissing and hugging her”
A. Activity
Direction: Read the poem and find out how
the children showed their love for their
mother.

Who Loves Mother Best?

“Oh happy birthday, Mama dear.”

Sang Ben, Liz and Bess with cheer
“We love you so much, we love you true.”
They kissed their mother, hug her too.

Then quickly Ben skipped out to play

And went with playmates all day.
Then rushed home in time to see
His sister Liz aglow with glee.

For Liz held up an ice cream cone,

Enjoying it, she sat alone.
Ben grabbed the cone, slipped away,
So Liz cried out, “For that you’ll pay!”

Like cats and dogs, the two did struggle

Each making sure to win the battle.
They tried to push and full then full,
While Mama almost lost her cool.

But little Bess with Mom she stayed,

She set the table, drinks she laid.
And helped to serve Mom’s friends and guests
Now tell me, who loves Mother best?

(After reading the poem)

“Why did Bess, Ben, Liz kiss and hug their

mother?”
“Because it is their mother’s birthday”
“Why was Liz aglow with glee?”
“Liz aglow with glee because she was eating a
cone of ice cream.”
“What made Liz cried out, “For that You’ll
pay?”
“Liz cried out because Ben grabbed the cone
then slipped away.”
“Why did mother almost lose her cool?”
“Because Ben and Liz struggled”
“Who among the three children love their
Mother best? How did he saw it?”
“Bess because she helped mother to serve the
guests.”
“What is the best way to show your love for
your parents?”
“The best way to show my love for my parent
is by…”

B. Analysis
“Ok class, anyone who has an idea of what is
our topic for today?”
“Yes Sir! Our topic for today is about the cause
and effect relationship.”

“Yes! Very good! Our topic for today is about

the cause and effect relationship.”

“Anyone to read the description?”

“A cause and effect relationship describes
something that happens and why it happens.”
“So, what happens is called an effect”

“And why it happens is called…?”

“A cause!”
“As you can see in this chart, I have here
sample pictures of a cause and its effects.”

“Anyone to explain this?”

“In this chart, the cause is rain and the effects

are having a rainbow on the first picture, on
the second picture is a flood when the rain is
too heavy and the last picture shows that the
plants grow because of rain.”

“Very good!”

“There are signal words that help you to

determine whether the statement is a cause
or an effect.”
“Will you please give one?” “One of the signal words is “because”
“Yes, you’re correct! That is one of the
common signal words, the connective because
that uses to identify the cause or the event
that is happened.”

“Anyone to give an example using that

connective word in a sentence?”
“The house was burned because the children
played a candle.”
“Very good!”

“Some signal word are consequently,

therefore, as a result, reason why, because of,
and may be due to.”

C. Abstraction
“To know that you really understood the topic
let us recall.”

“What is the relationship between the cause

and effect?”

“The relationship between the cause and

effect is that the cause states what is
happening and the effect states why it is
happened.”
“Very good!”

“Will you please give an example?”

“The mother loves her children because she
cares for them.”
“So what do you think is the importance of
knowing the cause and effect relationship?”
“We need to know the cause and effect
relationship to help determine the possible
solution to a problem and to limit and control
people in doing something harmful.”
“Excellent! Let ‘s claps him/her.”

D. Application
(News Reporting)
“I will group you into 4. Each group will make a
scene that shows the cause and effect
relationship. To summarize it, one
representative of the group will act like a news
reporter by giving only the cause and its
