Policy directions
• Pre-service education
- Raising of standards on student selection and admission
- Selective moratorium on new MD programs in NCR and regions with 3 or more medical
schools.
- Promote establishment of MD program in regions without medical schools.
- Imposing sanctions on poorly performing schools
- Monitoring visits and mandatory external accreditation of schools

• Updating of professional acts


• Define specialty practice and develop mechanisms for government recognition of training
programs, certifying boards, QA system
• Implementing return service policy for graduates health professional programs in government
universities and colleges (incorporated in the UHC Bill)
