On-line image analysis dedicated to the Sugar industry

Crystal Growth analysis and HD video monitoring
On-line crystal growth measurement is performed using
high resolution digital camera and optics mounted in
front of a fused sight glass which is automatically cleaned
by several flush pipes.
A powerful LED light source illuminates the crystals
moving inside the pan. Mounted on a motorised linear
table, its position and power are controlled according to
the size of the crystals and the density of the juice. As
only one layer of crystals is analysed, very sharp images
are continuously displayed in Real time in the control
room and the image treatment is very accurate.
Before seeding, the Crystobserver® monitors the syrup
quality and potentially detects contaminants, super coarse
crystals and air bubbles. In the control room, our customized software
can manage up to 6 pan cameras.
At the seeding stage and during the graining phase, it
counts and measures the crystals, calculates valuable A remote access via the internet allows to monitor
all the parameters and status of the full system

Advantages and Performances

Monitoring the crystals growth on-line always ensures
a constant and stable massecuite quality.
Adjustable thresholds on different variables are used to
detect, trigger and record alarms on non conformities
like false graining, wrong crystal size, bad agitation.
Separation is greatly facilitated by homogeneous crystals
with a low CV and a reduced number of fines, resulting
in a more efficient centrifugation.
The remelting being lowered, the sugar is produced with
higher performances and better profitability.
100% of the data are stored for checking the production
sustainability: different strikes comparison to a standard
one leads to a significant improvement of the sugar pan
yield.
