PRACTICAL RESEARCH 1

1.Enumerate the major characteristics of research.

Research is a process of collecting data, analysing and interpreting information to answer
questions. But to qualify as research, the process must have certain major characteristics it is
SYSTEMATIC, CONTROLLED, RIGOROUS, VALID AND VERIFIABLE, EMPIRICAL AND CRITICAL

2.Enumerate the general characteristics of research.

SYSTEMATIC, CONTROLLED, RIGOROUS, VALID AND VERIFIABLE, EMPIRICAL AND CRITICAL
3.Identify the kind of research across fields.
Ethnography, ethnomethodology, and phenomenological study

4. Determine the importance of research in decision making.

The importance of research in decision making there is no doubt believing something for
example in choosing a organic fertilizer for a farm because of research study there no doubt
using organic fertilizer because is tested a have a true proof /evidence because of the research .
5. Discuss the characteristics processes, and ethics of research.
Research ethics guidelines responsible of conducting research to ensure high ethical
standard .Discuss intellectual property frankly, Be conscious of multiple roles, Follow informed-
consent rules, Respect the confidentiality and privacy and last Tap into ethics resources with
ethics of research we can got a proper respondent in research study.

6.Differentiate ethical and unethical practices in conducting research.

Ethical can be defined as being morally correct or principled while unethical practices is an
opposite of being ethical.
7 .Discuss the ethical considerations in conducting the research.
The ethical consideration can be specified as one of the most important parts of research.
Dissertations may even be doomed to failure if this part is missing. According to Bryman and
Bell(2007).
1.Research participants should not be subjected to harm in any ways.
2. Respect for the dignity of research participants should be prioritised.
3. Full consent should be obtained from the participants prior to the study.
4. The protection of the privacy of research participants has to be ensured
5.Adequate level of confidently of research data should be ensured.
6.Anonymity of individuals and organisations participating in the research has to be ensured.
7.Any deception or exaggeration about aims and objectives of the research must be avoided.
8.Affiliatations in any forms, sources of funding, as well as any possible conflicts of interests
have to be declared.
9.any type of communication in relation to the research should be done with honesty and
transparency.
10. Any type of misleading information, as well as representation of primary data findings in a
biased way must be avoided.
8 Differentiate the kind of research across fields.
Ethnography is a type of fields research that tries to understand the culture and behaviour of
a group as a whole, Ethnomethodology studies common sense and knowledge while
Phenomenological study is understanding something based on the experience and point view of
the researcher.
9 .Explain the processes of conducting research.
In conducting research study following process/ steps will follows; Generate the idea, Conduct
literature review, Plan research methodology, Create research proposal, Apply for funding ,apply
for ethics approval, collect and analyse data and last draw conclusions and relate findings
through this research process the researcher can create an effective research that can be helpful
to everyone.
10. Explain the difference between qualitative and quantitative research
Quantitative research is used to quantify the problem by way of generating numerical data
that can be transformed into usable statistics while the qualitative research is primarily
exploratory research it is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and
motivations.
