Why I want to become an Indian ambassador to South Korea?

India-South Korea ties have flourished since the time of our ancient ancestors and the relations
between the two countries have withstood the test of time. Over the course of time, South Korea
has proved itself as a valuable ally. Thus, I would like to become the Indian ambassador to South
Korea, helping India in strengthening its alliance with South Korea.

Both India and South Korea being developing countries, are making remarkable efforts to promote
the IT sector. Samsung, the South Korean technology giant, recently inaugurated the world’s largest
smartphone factory in Noida, India. The establishment of this factory in Noida is a vivid example of
the cooperation of both the countries in the field of IT. Thus, further promoting coordination of the
two countries in the technology sphere would top my agenda as an international ambassador. India
in the recent times, has made appreciable strives in the software development sector while South
Korean tech giants, like Samsung, specialise in hardware manufacturing. Hence, collaboration on the
tech front would benefit both the nations.

The issue of frequent violations of ceasefire by Pakistan and China has raised questions about the
security and territorial integrity of India. The growing tensions in the South China Sea as well as
alarming activity of Chinese vessels in the Indian Ocean is making China’s intentions clear. Thus,
strategic and military ties would be a very important part of my agenda. Over the years, both the
countries have actively participated in joint military exercises. The two nations have recently made a
defence deal worth ₹6,000 crores. The deal includes everything from the joint warship development
program to collaboration in designing and manufacturing advanced surveillance equipment for the
armed forces of both the nations. Thus, as an international ambassador, I would work towards
further strengthening military and strategic ties between the two nations by bringing the agenda of
transfer of technology to the table. With South Korea making ground breaking strives in warship
building and India making remarkable progress in its missile defence systems program, both the
countries have a lot to learn from each other. I would also hold talks with my Korean counterparts
about the legal acquisition of a naval base by the Indian navy on the South Korean coast. South
Korea is located extremely close to China’s eastern coast. This move would offer a strategic location
for Indian defence forces to counter China on its prosperous eastern coast & South China Sea.

Both the countries have rich cultural diversity. Hence, I would also promote exchange programs and
educational trips for the children of both the nations. This initiative would not only help children of
both the nations learn about the mesmerising heritage of the other country but would also boost
the tourism sector of both the nations.

It would indeed be an honour for me to represent my country at the international level and work
towards its development and prosperity while keeping in mind, the interests and needs of the
people of my nation.
