The Assessment of Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Level Competencies will occur prior to
enrollment in Nursing Care Management and Leadership (NUR 219). It should be taken the term
before entering NUR 219, during Complex Health Problems (NUR 210). It may be taken following
the completion of both Patient-Centered Nursing Care II (NUR 205) and Health Promotion for
Families II (NUR 208). ATI scores are good for one (1) year. Students must achieve the minimum
score of 97 percent chance of successfully completing the licensing exam, NCLEX-RN, on the
first attempt to place out of Nursing Seminar (NUR 216). Students who do not achieve the required
minimum score place into and must enroll in NUR 216. Ms. Charles will register all students required
to take NUR 216. (For further information refer to the Assessment of Associate Degree Nursing
(ADN) Level Competencies in the Student Nurses Handbook).
To prepare for the test you should use your textbooks/class notes, NCLEX review books or online
NCLEX review sites. The NSRC has ATI reference materials. There are additional resources on the
ATI website www.atitesting.com which are available at your own expense. It is highly recommended
that you study before taking your first attempt.
1. The exam consists of 180 questions and covers all topics of the NCLEX. Budget your time for
1-question per minute. You will be allowed a maximum of 3 hours to complete the exam. You
will need a 97% predicted probability of passing NCLEX-RN on the first attempt to be
successful with this test.
2. The exam will be taken at Testing Services – Main Campus Only. Call 574-6815 to schedule
an appointment. (You MUST make an appointment.) There are a limited number of
computers, so schedule your test early.
4. Remember that the test takes approximately 3-hours to complete, so don’t schedule for
anything less. Appointments will be scheduled within the Testing Services hours of operation.
5. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR TESTING:
Test pass
Paid receipt from the Business Office
Picture ID
7. When you arrive to take the exam, the Testing Services personnel will take you to a computer
where you will enter your name and social security number. You will create your own
password, this should be something that you will not forget.
8. When the exam is completed, you will receive a printed copy of your results at the Testing
Services’ front counter.
9. Once you have completed the exam, the front sheet and the yellow copy of the test pass
must be turned in to Ms. Charles’s mailbox located on the third floor of the 970 building.
When turning in your copy of the exam, indicate when you will be taking NUR 219 (Fall or
Spring term). You may write this information on the score sheet.
10. If you do not score 97% probability on the first attempt you must enroll in NUR 216.
Ms. Charles will register all students for NUR 216.
11. Students will have a maximum of two additional attempts on the RN Comprehensive Predictor
while enrolled in NUR 216. The deadline for taking additional attempts will be posted on the
NUR 216/NUR 219 course calendar. Students achieving the minimum score of 97% predicted
probability may elect to take the exam for a higher score. Points earned from the highest score
attained on the exam will be added to the NUR 219 theory grade. (For further information refer
to the Assessment of Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Level Competencies in the Student
Nurses Handbook.)
12. The initial test and any subsequent tests are at the student’s expense ($64.00/test session).
13. Students with Accommodations may also receive accommodations for the ATI-RN.
• Documentation verifying accommodations must be sent to Ms. Charles.
• Students must create an account in the ATI web site (www.atitesting.com) under Trident
Tech College – RN.
• Notify Ms. Charles when your account has been created and accommodation time will be set.
GOOD LUCK!!!
