Last Leaf” by O. Henry.
I will give set of strips of

what category it belongs
and post it on the board. Vine vs. Johnsy

Similarities

Differences:

Vine
It is dead at the roots and with leaves that
fall whenever the rain pours and wind
blows.

It is easily affected physically by external

factors such as the coldness of temperature
and weather.

It usually withers during winter due to

extreme coldness

It is incapable of adjusting itself to climate.

Its survival depends upon the

season/weather.

Jhonsy
She is young beautiful artist full of dreams
but is physically weak due to illness

Her disposition is affected by the vine's

falling leaves

She associated her possible death to the

death of the tree which is manifested by
the last leaf to fall.
She recovered from illness when she
thought that the last leaf which she
expected to fall remained hanging despite
the heavy rain and wind.

She has the capability to adjust to the

external environment.

She has greater chance to survive varied

challenges.

Similarities:
The vine and Johnsy are both vulnerable.

They are easily affected by the winter’s

extreme coldness which caused the death
of the former and the illness of the latter.

last leaf hanging on the vine after a stormy
night, she realizes she should not lose hope.
She is determined to get better. She finds out
that the leaf she sees is not real but the
masterpiece of Mr. Behrman.
If you were old Mr.
Behrman, will you
sacrifice your life to save
another? Why or why Yes, I already lived most of my life and
