This standard specifies the design requirements, tha performance requirements, and the conformity assessment mathod for valves, whataver their type snd materials. This standard applies in priority to any othar product or tast standard: the requirements from other standards ‘apply only when this standard refers to them. For double flost valves, the obturstors may be tested simultaneously or separataly. 281 05.2000 Page 7 EN 1074-4:2000 5.23 Maximum operating torque (MOT) for operation and tightness Not applicable, except for any integrated isolating devics which shall be in accordance with 5.23 of EN 1074-2:2000, 5.3 Airflow characteristics Requirement shall be in socordance with §.3 of EN 1074-1:2000. ‘The characterises given by the manufacturer shall be the sir flow as a function of preesure. When it is measured according to the conditions defined in the relevant hereafter subclauses, the flow shall ba not lees than 90 % of the value indicated by the manufacturer, at fwo points of the curve, these fwo points being indicstive of the range and functions of the valve. 5.3.1 Airrelease function ‘The typs test shal be in accordance with Annex A. ‘Testing is not required for air valves larger than DN 100. 5.3.2 Airintake function ‘The type test shall be in eccordance with Annex B. Testing is not required for air valves larger than DN 100. 5.3.3 Air venfing function The air venting function shall be verified by measuring the section of tha small orifice of the valve, calculating the flow through it under sonic conditions and comparing the result with the value given in the manufacturer's catslogues. “The diffarance shall be no greater than +10 %. 5.4 Resistance to disinfection products Requiremant and tast shall be in accordance with 5.4 of EN 1074-1:2000. 5.5 Endurance 5.5.1 Endurance of valves with alr intake andlor air release functions ‘The enduranos of @ valve with air intake andlor air release functions shall be avelusted by subjecting the valve to 250 consecutive cycles of filing and draining in accordance with Annax C, the pressure varying from atmospheric to PFA; the vaive shall open and close fully during the test and shall pass the leaktightness: tests in accordance with §.2.1 and 5.2.2 affer the 250 cycles. 5.5.2 Endurance of valves with an air venting function ‘The endurance of & valve with sir venting function shall be evaluated by subjecting tha valve to 2500 consecutive cycles of sir venting. This may ba achieved by continuous injection of air into the system allowing the valve to cycle automatically, or by cyclic injection of air. The valve shall open and close fully at each cycle of the test and shan pass the leaktighinass tasts in accordance with 5.2.1 and 5.2.2 after the 2.500 cycles. #2108200 Page 3 EN 1074-4:2000 5.5.3 Long term unseating test Thie is an accelerated tast to ensure thet the obturator will ralease aftar baing undar pressure for a long time. ‘The tast shell ba carried out on s valve in its delivery condition, mounted vertically, at a temperatura of (60 2)°C, kept under hydraulic pressure of at least PFA during five days. Then release the pressure and check that the valve opens normally. ‘The valve shall pass the laaktightness tasts in accordance with 5.2.1 and 6.2.2. The fast shall begin with the valve and the air et ambient temperature. At the point whare the sir fiow is measured, the air temperature shall remain between § °C and 45 °C throughout the test. Valves with several functions (air relesse, air intake and air venting) shall be tested without isolating the parts enguring the different functions. B.2 Test installation The test installation shsll be capable of cresting an air flow in the air intake direction, either by negative pressure balow tha valve or by positive pressure around or into the valve, Drawings in Figure 8.1 are given 33 examples. ‘The test installation shall be equipped with devices allowing the measurement of sir flow, pressure and temperature. 8.3 Test procedure ‘Open the isolating valve to reach the flow of the first point of meseurement. ‘The value of the flow shall be within tha range of + % for all the test duration. ‘The value of the pressure shall be within the range of $5.4 for all the test duration, “The value of the temperatura shall be within the range of #2 °C for all the test duration. Calculate the average flow and express it in mh (at standard temperature and pressure), converting it to normal outside atmospheric conditions. Record the test conditions and test results (average pressure, average temperature, average flow). C.2 Test procedure Fill the test installation with water up to the Jowest point of the valve to be tasted. Incresse the weter pressure inside the valve up to PFA +10 9% and maintain it for at least 2 min. Release the pressure to allow the full displacement of the obturator, the air coming into the valve through the ‘orice in case of a valve with air intake function. Repaat the sama procedure for 250 cycles. Proceed to the leaktightness tests in accordance with §.2.1 and 5.2.2.
