EN 1074 consists of six parts: Part 1: General sequirements; Part 2: Isolating valves; Part 3: Check vaives; Part: Air valves; Part §: Control valves; Part 6: Hydrants. Part 1, in conjunction with the subsequent parts, lays down the general requiremants and test pracedures to be carriad out in production and during the assessment of conformity of these valves (type tests). Control vaives with pressure control or Isval control function shall be seat tight when closed. ‘The manufacturer shall indicate in the relevant technical documentation the working limits of the valve and leny special conditions for instalistion and commissioning, 5 Performance requirements 5.1 Mechanical strength 5.1.1 Resistance to internal pressure of the shell and of all pressure containing components. Requirement and tast shall be in acoordancs with 5.1.1 of EN 1074-1:2000. f the manufacturer indicates that ‘any feature of the control valve is not dasigned to withstand a high pressure, he shall indicate in his technical documentation the appropriate means to be used (e.g. isolating valves of ths control system), in order ta protect them during the test. ‘The features protected by these means shall bs testad to the pressure given in 5.1.2 of EN 1074-1:2000. 5.1.2 Resistance to differential pressure ‘The valve shall comply with the requiramant and tast of 5.1.2 of EN 1074-1:2000. fs contrl valve is designed without seat tightness, the requirement and test for the obturator shall be modified as follows: — the differential pressure which the obturator shall withstand, shall be the lower of (1,5 x APR) bar and {APM + 5) bar, where APM ie the maximum differenti pressure of the control valve in operation (value to be given by the manufacturer). After the test, the valve shall comply with the control performanoas ofthis standard (soa 5.3) 5.1.3 Resistance of valves to bending Bending resistance is an optional requirement for control valves; if banding resistance is claimed by the manufacturer, the requirement and test shall be in eccordance with 5.1.3 of EN 1074-1:2000, for sizes DN 50 fp DN 500. ‘The bending moments 14 ta be applied during the fest shell be as given in Table 1 as a function of DN. 28st 03.2001 Page? EN 1074-5:2000 Table 1 — Banding moments 5.1.4 Resistance of valves to operating loads This requirement is applicable only to control valves whose main obturator can be operated manually to over-ride tha control function. Requirement shall be in accordance with 5.1.4 of EN 1074-1:2000. Tast shall bs in acoordanoa with $.1.4 of EN 1074-2:2000. 5.2 Leak-tightness 5.2.1 Leaktightness of the shell and of all pressure containing components 5.2.1.1 Leak-tightness to internal pressure Requirement and test shall bs in accordance with 5.2.1.1 of EN 1074-1:2000. 5212 Leak-tightness to external pressure Requirement and test shall be in accordancs with 5.2.1.2 of EN 1074-1:2000. 5.22 Seat tightness This subclause is only applicable to control valves where sest tightness is @ requirement or is claimed by the manufacturer (see clause 4). For level contrat and pressure control valves, the leakage rate shall be the rete A, under the conditions definad in the manufacturer's documentation. Test shall be in accordance with 5.2.3 of EN 1074-22000. 5.24 Leak-tightness of gearboxes to axtemal pressure If applicable, requirement and test shall be in accordance with 5.2.4 of EN 1074~1:2000, 5.3. Hydraulic characteristics “Testing is not required foe control valves greater then DN 300. 5.3.1 Flaw coefficient, Ky Requirement shall be in accordance with 53 of EN1074%:2000; the characteristic givan by tha manufacturer shall be the flow cosficient K, For autonomous controt valve, it shall be given in the fully opsn position. In the case of non-autonomous contrat valves, the manufacturer shall give it as function of the opening position of the obturator. Cavitation shall be avoided. A.2 Tost procedure (sce Figure A1) At a set point of the flow, (, aqual fo the minimum allowed value of the faw es given by the manufacturer, the differential pressure applied to the valve shall be given different values (ymin, Aomax and two intermediate values), while measuring the controlled flow. ‘The resulting curve [2= f(Ap)] shall be inside the grea limited by the tolerance (AQ) given in the manufacturer's documentation. Repest the same pracedurs, choosing second sat point of the flow, equal to the maximum allowed valua of the flow as given by the manufacture. (Cavitation shall be avoidad. Cavitation shall ba avoided €.2 Test procedure (see Figure C.1) ‘Opan the valve to increase the level in the tank up to the level of closing, Himax. Increase the pressure up to 1,1 x PFA, checking that the flow has stopped nd that the height in the tan is not higher than max. Decrease the upstream pressure of the valve dowm to zero, and then decraass the laval in tank of the value AH, as given in the manufacturer's documentation. Increase the upstream pressure until the flow starts again, and note the value of the pressure. Allow the tank to fil i> max. For valves equipped with s pilot, the pilot and the main valve may be tasted separataly. D.2 Endurance testing procedure Set the control valve to ifs open position, as given in the manufacturer's tachnical documentation and ‘maintain in this position for & minimum of 15 s, with & pressure equal to PMA +10 %. Set the control valve to its maximum closed position, as given in the manufscturer’s technical documentation ‘and increase the differential pressure up to PMA +10 %. Maintain in this position for & minimum of 15 5. Repest the procadure for 2 500 cyries.
