Power Standard:

The learners are able to address the issues in the community using the concepts of functions, business mathematics and logic.

Culminating Performance Standard:

The learners are able to apply their knowledge of Functions, Business Mathematics, and Logic in dealing with the intricacies of
mathematical and scientific concepts in higher education, entrepreneurial demands, middle-level skills development and
employment through utilizing appropriate mathematical and financial tools.

Goal
The students should be able to identify solutions to the current issues/problems in their respective communities using their
knowledge of General Mathematics. Some of these issues/problems may include (but not limited to) the following: Traffic, Environmental
Problems (e.g. Mayon Volcano eruption), Garbage Segregation, EJK, and etc...

Role
The students will assume the role of the following: researchers and/or data analysts in addressing the issues/problems of their
respective community.

Audience
Stakeholders in their community such as the barangay officials or community leaders, residents, and DOST

Situation
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is conducting a competition among the members of your community. This
competition involves the showcase of innovations, strategies and procedures which can help solve the present issues of the community.
Moreover, the solutions to the issues must involve the applications of functions, business mathematics, and logic.
With this, the students have to determine a real-life problem that persists in their community and present a solution to this problem
using the aforementioned mathematical concepts. The students are expected to document, create, and pitch a presentation of their
problem-solving process which will be submitted to DOST for evaluation.
Product
The students are to create a proposal/product that aims to solve their chosen community issue. This proposal/product shall be
presented to a panel for evaluation.

Standards
The project proposal will be be evaluated according to the following criteria: content and accuracy (45%), presentation and
organization (30%), creativity (15%) and cooperation (10%).
The winners will be awarded as the Science and Technology Heroes of the Year.
