Americans They mostly focus on the ethics view.
They are more of a hands-on style. 
Asian Perspective On Self
 The Spiritual

Asian The Eastern society accepts truth as given and is

more interested in finding the balance.
They are more socail resonsible.
The "Me" Concept

EASTERN
Eternal reality of the universal truth: self-
liberation through getting rid of the false
"Me" and discovering the true "Me"
Western
"Me" is here and now. The true “Me” in
every human being is a part of the Divine
that need to become apparent. True “Me”
is given and doesn’t have to be
cognizable.

REJECTS SELF
Reject self in general, the is an illusion, it is
ephemeral, nothing last forever and everything is in
constant flux of change and impermance.

BUDDHA TEACHING Eastern

The Buddha taught that the idea of a 'self' is an illusion
and that illusion leads to pain and suffereing. Philosophy
TRANSCENDING EGO
By renouncing the 'self' and transcending the ego, one
can obtain release from suffering  (nirvana) and finally
be at peace.
Western Philosophy
ENDURING SELF
You are, who you are, even you change physically and
mentally.

SPIRITUAL
Soul is immaterial or spiritual it is eternal even after Western
deaths, soul continues to exist and thinking is part of
the soul which makes us remain as a person. Philosophy
MEMORY
Descartes believed if he could not think then he isn't
existing, it is our memory that allows us to identity
ourselves.
