ABSTRACT
Abstract. This study aims to: (1) Developing valid and practical problem based
learning teaching materials using android on the subject of cartesian coordinate,
(2) to know the potential effect of student’s learning outcomes using android
teaching materials on the subject of cartesian coordinate for problem-based
learning. Subjects were students in Patra Mandiri 1 Plaju Junior High School. The
experiment was conducted in June 2019-September 2019. Using the method of
research and development by Akker which consists of two stages: a preliminary
stage and formative evaluation phase. Data obtained from interviews in the
classroom, open comment expert, observation sheet, results of student worksheets
or assignments, and open student questionnaire. Then the data were analyzed
qualitatively to determine the answer to a problem that has been formulated. The
results of this study, is (1) A build Android-based teaching materials in the form of
applications which can present the process of problem based learning. Teaching
materials are also designed to be a practical resource, and can be used by students
anytime and anywhere. (2) The effect of teaching materials based on Android in
helping students in Class VIII Patra Mandiri 1 Junior High School increases the
student’s learning outcome. Students feel attracted to the applications used and
applications help them understand the material of cartesian coordinates easily.
