A. Question: How can competence be achieve with the involvement of the three factors illustrated
below?

B. Answer:
Competitiveness is one of the most goal of every institutions, companies or group of
people nowadays. But the question is, how can we achieve competitiveness in life with the
combination of skills, knowledge and attitude we have?
Knowledge is important in oneself, to become competent daily especially in dealing with
others around us. It is the reason why education or learning is needed. New learning and ideas
gained through education and will develop into knowledge that is always in an individual. Through
knowledge, we could socialize in the environment where we live in. We could express ourselves
with the use of knowledge we have. But, knowledge will be more effective with the partnership of
skills we possessed. Skills will make us more productive in life. Through knowledge and skills, we
could improve ourselves and could be a help also to others. We could be a way to another learning
also by sharing the knowledge and skills that we have. We could use our skills to be an instrument
in the progress of our country by using it in a nice way; and thus good attitude will sink in. Both
knowledge and skills will be a big help to an individual but better to apply good attitude or our
good manners for the very best result. Because knowledge is nothing without good manners.
I am always telling this concept to my students. That we will not achieve success in life by
using intelligent or knowledge alone. Living in this world without application of learning we gained
from school is useless. There are professionals nowadays, who are good in academic and skills was
with them too; but very low in terms of behavior or good manners. Neither richness, popularity,
superiority nor intelligence could help us to be successful in life. It’s our good attitude that we
possessed. Even we have the skills and knowledge but we don’t know how to give value others,
we don’t know how to show respect other people and respect ourselves too, competitiveness will
be achieved. There are people we thought good and almost perfect already because of the way
they speak and because of their achievement in life. But we forgot to observe their behavior, their
manners especially in dealing with other people.
True application of knowledge can be seen in our attitude or behavior. How can we say
that you are educated person yet your behavior shows that there is no application of the learnings
or shall we say “not educated” one.
Truly competitiveness will be achieved through these three factors; attitude, knowledge
and skills. Yes a person could be knowledgeable and skillful, yet he/she don’t have a perseverance,
willingness to listen others and courage to live with other people, then he/she could fail in his/her
career. If these three factors will not be in present in an individual, a success will not be achieve.
Then, he will not be competent enough in life.
