Modern Scandinavian
(Concept paper)
The goal of my design is to create a sense of tranquillity, airiness and light in a very small
space. The principles of simplicity and lightness of the scandinavian interiors and some modern
design solutions, will be able to create a visually and ergonomically pleasing space. I kept my
palette on the neutral side and played with the coolness and warmth of every material in order
to make a very soft space rather than a striking one. The usage of wood, concrete, metal and
glass creates interest in the whole space and adds a sense of escape from the city life. The light
colors recede into the background, making the space look bigger and breathable,It also makes
the light travel throughout the space, making a light filled space. Pops of colors are gonna be
added to cut all the neutral colors of the space, example of these things are plants.
I applied modern storage solutions in order to maximize the space and to create a freer flow
within the space. In the Living area, I extended the wall by creating a back to back storage
space. I applied some paneling from the column wall to the cabinetry to make it look seamless.
Poufs are hidden in the utility room just in case they need extra seating. In the dining room, I
used a banquette seating in order to accomodate 6 people or more. The two bedrooms were
customized for each client to suit their style and personality. It is my goal to keep each space
uncluttered, therefore avoiding visual noise at each space. I also chose furniture that has a high
clearance from the floor to give a sense spaciousness and to create a light and pleasing scene.
