BACKGOUND OF THE PROBLEM:

Healthy Ageing and funcKonal ability

WHO defines Healthy Ageing “as the process of developing and maintaining the funcKonal
ability that enables wellbeing in older age”. FuncKonal ability is about having the capabili<es
that enable all people to be and do what they have reason to value. This includes a person’s
ability to:
• meet their basic needs;
• to learn, grow and make decisions;
• to be mobile;
• to build and maintain rela<onships; and
• to contribute to society.
Func<onal ability is made up of the intrinsic capacity of the individual, relevant environmental
characterisKcs and the interac<on between them.

WORK BRIEF:

Client is 64 years of age (you can define the gender) and is living alone in an ancestral home in
Quezon City (loca<on can be changed, say you might want to use sta<s<cs in the Province you
have more access or knowledge to). Living alone with one helper to look aOer the elderly, it is
required that most of the design parameters is well considered to s<ll be able to navigate
around the place.

Kids would normally visit from <me to <me and would stay on occasions of family gatherings.
The elderly is s<ll quite ac<ve in their community and would look aOer their exis<ng farm house
in Batangas. Those ac<vi<es are basic rou<nes of day to day life. Also, s<ll like to be ac<ve
working around the house and doing some household chores.

CONSIDERATIONS:

You are asked to expound on the specifics of the work brief that was given but it has to be
s<pulated in the research aVached with the complete sets of drawing

Sheet Requirements:

All drawings must be on 15x20 size paper (tracing/board)

Sheet Content:
A. Concept/Mood Board explaining the design solu<on and style
B. Floor plan with Furniture Layout with Floor PaVern complete with specifica<ons and call outs
(1:50MTS)
C. Reflected Ceiling plan complete with specifica<ons and call out (1:50MTS)
D. Longitudinal Wall Eleva<ons (2) complete with specifica<ons and dimensions
E. Rendered Perspec<ves (to be discussed in class as to the areas)
F. Swatch Board - materials to be used (can be actual swatch or image representa<on)

G. Research and FF&E - schedule of all finishes, furniture, fixture, equipment (when needed) to
be printed in a short bond paper in folder together with the substan<al research

FLOOR PLAN is a3ached in a separate sheet

• CEILING HEIGHT: 3000 MM

NOTE:

-Mix media can be used for presenta<on

-Final plans must be in ink
-All Must be ring bind in <me for final submission
