What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that connects with
a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that you cannot just google an
answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
My inquiry question is:

How can the environment of a home affect someone’s personality and lifestyle?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are choosing to
investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect to your passion(s),
purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

I chose to research this inquiry question because it is something that I am curious about. Could the
environment of a clean house make you more successful or not. This is something that intrigues me quite a
bit. From knowing people who have had problems cleaning their house, I know that when their house was
unorganized and messy so was their life.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this area of inquiry?

I have some background knowledge about this topic from watching MANY tv shows about this specific
inquiry question. Not only have I watched many shows about this topic, but I direct messaged an interior
designer from one of my favorite shows asking for some advice for me for the future, to my surprise she
answered and told me what she did and what she was able to accomplish from her personal experiences.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What connections does this
inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

My intended career area is architecture and Interior design. My current capstone topic is directly related to
my intended career. My inquiry question relates to my life through my career’s goals. My hope for my future

 is hopefully one day open my own interior design business. This is a huge goal that I have for the future,
and my inquiry question is something that most important part of the whole process/designing.

Interdisciplinary and core competencies connections: What subject areas and core competencies will
be connected with your project? Outline and explain the connections.

Some of the core competencies that relate to my project are creative thinking but more specifically novelty
and value. I can create new and unique ideas that may provide new perspectives that influence how people
think about topics. Another core competency is critical thinking. I can ask good quality questions, gather
relevant information, and come up with well developed conclusions.

I am planning on presenting my capstone through PowerPoint and through the model house I am planning
on creating. On my PowerPoint I am planning on including my designs on the floor plan of my house, my
patterns I want to use in the rooms of the house, colors that go together and colors that do not. My
inspiration for the home and my plans on how I am going to execute it. Then also on my PowerPoint I am
going to talk about my research question and the data and answer I found from that.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what will you
research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced at the end of this
project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your proposal.

I will create a model of a home to show the importance

of the environment and the decorations that go into it
how it matters. The organization of a home is also super
important to the environment of one’s home. I will be
researching different design techniques to be able to
create the best outcome of a home. The product that will
be produced at the end of this course will be a well-
designed home that with include a organized and
aestically pleasing home that is livable but also practical
and happy environment home.

need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to access/learn all of the resources
necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail your plans.

For my research aspect of my project I will using JSTOR ang google scholar to be able to have access
and get academic sources and proper reliable information. As for decorating and designing my home
I will be using pieces of product that I find around my house or recyclable items.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will you need to

help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you? What is your plan to access
the mentorship/community connections necessary for this project?

For my mentor I am planning on having my dad for one. He teaches carpentry and BCIT and is able and
dedicated to helping me complete and budling my model home. He has made model homes like this in
the past and is able to give me insight and tips to help me complete this project to the best of my ability.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee that might
affect progress with your Capstone Project?

Some of my project limitations are that I am unable to find recyclable items to use for my model home. I
want to use items that not going to hurt the planet or the environment. If I am unable to find items that I
am able to recycle or won’t hurt our environment then I will have to use products that will make my model
home the best it can be.
