1. How would you describe good/effective communication?

Good and effective communication is when one can gather their thoughts and produce an
appropriate and well worded response to a question. Good communication also consists of being
clear, balanced, concise, and confident. These traits can help one communicate to who they may
be talking to.
2. Why and when do we need effective communication?
Effective communication is key in our day to day lives. Effective communication is important
when connecting with others around you, things can get lost in translation, so being clear and
coherent is key when talking with others.
3.What are the greatest challenges to good communication?
Some of the greatest challenges people face with communication is using filler words. This is
something that is very common with people who struggle in social situations. Using filler words
is a tactic that people use when they are unsure of what to say next and use these words, so the
conversation doesn’t become awkward.
4. Can culture, gender, nationality or social class have an effect on communication?
Culture, gender, nationality, or social class does have a major effect on communication because
when communicating with another person, the way that you view them based on their gender,
culture, nationality, and or social class can play a huge role on how effective you and they
communicate.
5.Has the development of the internet and social media caused a change in the way we
communicate (quality, quantity, style etc.)?
The way the internet and social media have changed the way people communicate is tremendous.
Communication is not the way it used to be, if you wanted to talk to someone you had to do it in
person or over the phone. Now a days it’s the opposite. People are too afraid to communicate
with one another in person or even over the phone. Texting is one of main forms of
communication that people of my generation use it. When texting with someone you can say
anything, you want without any fear or hesitation because not being able to hear someone say it
with their own voice makes it easier for one to say what they desire. This has completely
changed the way that people talk to one another now a days.
