very high competition from big companies outside the market and is trying to face the competition
best of its ability. It is losing its customers due to unethical malpractice by the competitor.

This industry uses the materials left over from the coconut after extracting oil which is considered
as waste by converting it into other useful purposes and involving itself in waste management.
This will raise their income margin which otherwise would have been gone in waste.

The company is most looked into company as it is very faithful related to its quality and production

Copra, dried Kernel is the main commercial product which is extracted from coconut for the
production of oil. Copra normally has an oil content of 65% to 70%. It has a range of applications

smell or taste, lasting up to six months at 24degree Celsius without spoiling. Coconut oil
manufacturing does not contain any waste every part of the coconut can be a substitute. Coconut
oil finds extensive use in food, the industrial sector, the medical sector in reducing cholesterol and
fighting diabetes, etc. Owing to this features coconut oil has a potential market within the nation.
Due to the price of coconut oil in the foreign market is very much lower than the domestic price,
the quality, and charisma of consumer packs are important factors to compete in the world market.
The demand of oil depends on the edible and non- edible sector.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE (SOP):

 Selection of Coconut:

Coconut is the main core item for their manufacturing process so selection of the best coconut
is the important thing in their manufacturing process. The Cococ Uttam has the quality team
which is continuously in contract with the farmers to supply Coconut from Karnataka, Tamil
Nadu, Kerala, and local framers too. They source the best coconuts within the country directly
from these farmers without the need of the middlemen, which is indirectly benefiting the
industry in cost of production.

 Dehusking:

Before the coconuts are put into the process of extraction of oil, the selected coconut is broken
open and the water inside is emptied, and then it is traditionally dried under direct sun for at
least 4 – 5 days instead of roasting. This helps reduce the moisture content present in the
coconut. The reduced moisture content not only enhances the life of the oil but also improves
the quality of the oil. They also use dryers to further dry it. Hot air is passed into the coconut
to remove the moisture content present in it. The company has 3 such blowers in their unit.

6|Page
 Deshelling:

Now the coconut which is dried is ready to be deshelled. Because of continuous drying, the
coconut shrinks and is partly detached from its outer shell. Thus the outer shell can be easily
removed manually. The dried coconut which is obtained after separating it from its outer cover
is known as “Copra”. This copra is put into the copra cutter to form the tiny bits which will be
easily crushed in the expellers. This crushed Copra’s yields oil around 65% of oil is extracted
from it.

 Filtration:

The oil which is extracted is full of impurities. To remove the impurities and to get the pure
oil, the oil extracted is settled into one tank. The mud which is presented in the oil settles below
and oil at the top which is pumped out with the help of filter pipe and gets stored in a storage
tank. Now the final product is obtained with free of impurities.

 Storage:

The oil obtained is stored in the tank till it has a demand. When the demand arrives it is packed
into consumer packs and has a shelf life of 6 months, without any preservatives added to it.

 Packing:

The final step is packaging. Hi-tech packing machines ensure leak-proof, tamper-proof packing
that helps to retain aroma and flavor of the production as well as increase shelf life. The packing
unit is specially designed to ensure a clean and hygienic environment and zero contamination

of oil. The products are available in various pack sizes.

 Quality and Research:

Coco Uttam has a standardized technologist for the quality check and to make research which
is 24*7 monitoring every aspect, from purchasing of copra to production to packing of the oil.
It is the quality that has made Coco Uttam a well-known brand in South India today.

SWOT ANALYSIS:

The purpose of creating SWOT for Vintel Insudtry is to examine external and internal variables in
a summary way.

Strength Weakness
 Premium quality  Main concentration on B2B business
 Affordable price only
 Available in many variances  Market awareness
 Waste management  No HR head
Opportunity Threat
 High competition
 Loyal customer base in Hubli
 Adulteration
 New product line
 Uncertainty factor

STRENGTH:

1. Premium quality:
The company's first priorities to maintain a good quality of oil in order to be ahead of
competitors and also to retain its customers. Companies know that buying behavior and also
customer satisfaction mainly depends on its quality and this also served as strength to this
company. The company has its own set of processes to check their output quality and also do
yearly check of their output in Manipal laboratory to which they have documents as proof.

2. Affordable price:
The company has products ranging from Rs30-Rs1500. When compared to its price range in
the market it's neither charged high or low. Keeping in mind the customer ideal price they
have charge their product at medium affordable prices.

3. Available in many variants:

Vintel has products from 100ml pouch to 5kg tin can. This also acts as a front to the business
because customer satisfaction and buying behavior also depends upon the availability of oil in
their required quantity. It’s for this reason of keeping many varieties of all the company has a
good turn over as well.

10 | P a g e
4. Waste management:
Company follows certain step so that there is no wastage of raw materials, the husk that is left
over is used by the company for drying coconut and the remaining ones are sold to the nearby
residence if demanded.

WEAKNESS:

1. Concentration only on B to B business:

Vintel as its own B to C oil brand which is named Coco Uttam, as this is of premium quality
there is demand for this product. With proper awareness this product has potential to gain
market share due to its loyal customer base. Neglecting its potential and concentrating only on
B to B is kind of a drawback to Vintel.

2. Market awareness:
Even though there are customers who are loyal to Vintel there is a need to have more new
customers in this competitive market. It has been observed that the company has not made any
promotion except one holding outside the factory. Vintel needs market awareness in form of
pamphlets, local newspaper advertisements. Most of the people nowadays are exposed to
advertisement it is very important for Vintel to also follow the same.

3. No HR head:
The internal business operation of the companies handled by the owner itself in order to reduce
the cost. As companies expanding it requires to maintain smooth working of the firm.It has
been identified that most of the workers are semi-skilled who received day to day wages, in
order to maintain proper salary structure and their welfare our advice is to hire HR for
administrative purpose.

OPPORTUNITY:

1. Loyal customer base in Hubli:

Coco Uttam which is a B to C brand of Vintel has a loyal customer based and very good market
share in Hubli due to its affordable piece and quality. There are also loyal customers in
Mangalore; our advice is to launch B to C. i.e. Coco Uttam in Mangalore also with proper
awareness and promotion.

11 | P a g e
2. New product line:
Nowadays customer is demanding coconut oil with other nourishing elements in it. Vintel can
come up with a new product line that has coconut oil base infused with aloe Vera extract and
also vitamin.

THREATS:

1. High competition:

Brands like Surya are giving high competition to Vintel products hence these have to come up
with a new strategy against competitor. Just like Surya these also have to come up with variety
of product line in order to gain more customers. The company must also concentrate on its
packaging and logistic. They should be consistent communication with its employees

2. Adulteration:
The main concern of Vintel industry is adulteration according to them they are ‘n’ number of
players in the market who sell coconut oil for a cheaper price then these but the quality of it is
below the standard set by the food grading department and also has side effects to the person
who consumes it. As purchase's main motive is to purchase at a low price possible, he ended
up buying these adulterated oils which are not recommended for consumption.

3. Uncertainty factor:
The uncertainty factor is nothing, but the risk factor involved in the production until the
delivery of the product. Intense care should be taken in order to minimize the damages. Small
damages may also cost huge losses to industry in case if it depletes the quality of the product
which interns affect its loyal customer base. When extracting oil, the temperature must be
properly maintained or else this will cause damage to the production and the quality of the
product might vary.

12 | P a g e
ISSUES AND OPPORTUNITIES CONCERNED WITH THE
ORGANIZATION AND THE SUGGESTION:

 HIGH LABHOUR ATTRITION RATE:

The labourers are the heart of every organization. Labourers are the person who involves
themselves in a lot of physical tasks. The firm cannot work without labourers. The efficiency
of the labours is valued all over the firm. In small and medium-size industries where production
runs at full capacity and the availability of the labours plays an important role.

Upon examining the Vintel Industry, we established the factory's issue regarding workforce
turnover and difficulties in maintaining existing workers as well as recruiting new employees for
vacancies.

Vintel Industry LLP has Labour problem this is mainly due to low pay scale, lack of basic facilities
in working area when compared to that of its competitor. The workers are from Haryana and Orissa
they are not provided with paid leave facility as family members are different state.

13 | P a g e
SUGGESTIONS

 As competitors provide their workers with free meals, Vintel should introduce food at a
subsidized rate at the lowest possible rate.
 Free Cold drinking water services must be provided.
 Weekday off need be followed.
 Vintel Industry workers must provide additional variable pay based on their performance,
which will increase their productivity.
 Offering a career to a woman will also increase the income for two people working in the
household, and she also doesn't have to go looking for a job.
 Human life is precious because families rely on their earnings, so it is important to provide
security measures such as hand gloves for women sorting coconut shells and other security
measures to their workers.
 Vintel owner should work on relationship building and employee feedback should be taken
seriously.
 Workers kids who are outstanding in academics must be recognized and rewarded for the same.
As for any parent encouraging their child will boost their belonging ness to company
 Employment and security at job.

In a period of 2 months 6-8 people leave the organization this is because of low pay scale, lack of
basic facilities. There are just 4 members who have remained in the business for almost 6 years.
Therefore labour attrition rate per month = 20.59%.

As they have a turnover of Rs 2 crore, it’s not a major problem for Company to make hike of 20%
on their employee’s wages.

Cost of items:
1. Coconut husk peeler – 900 (women in Vintel use their bare hands and sickle to separate coconut
shell)
2. Drinking water (Madka)—399 per piece.

Advantage of Implementing this

 Employee attrition rate will decrease due to increase in wages almost similar to competitors
wage as this was main reason behind attrition and even by providing job to their spouse two
members in a family work which will benefit their family.
 By also hiring with the male member people who migrate from other places to here in search
of work will prefer Vintel in case of vacancy as both will get job at once.
 As women employee peel shell using bare hands by giving them tool to them, it will reduce their
risk of accident also the work productivity increases as their per minute peeling capacity
increases.
 As some of the labourers are leaving the orgamisation as the firm is not providing food facility
to the employees. By provifing food at subsidised rate threse unsatisfied employees can save
their money and can stay in the organisation.

15 | P a g e
WASTE MANAGEMENT:

As an oil manufacturing industry, Vintel CO comprises lots of wastes. And the company follows
waste management system in order to gain from the wastes. And it also helps in environment
protection. Major waste management tasks involve.

 The husk is used by the company for drying the coconut and the reaming is sold to the
nearby customers who demand husk for their day to day activity.
 Copra which is left out after extracting the oil is often used in making cakes that are used
for feeding cows. And also in preparing manures for the plants.

SUGGESTION TO GAIN ADDITIONAL REVENUE:

These are the few suggestions that we have come up with for Vintel Industries LLP to gain
additional revenue from the waste formed after processing oil. These things are cost-effective and
also creates employment for people.

1. Medium Density Fiber Boards from Coconut Husks: The husk of a recent coconut is
formed of very sturdy fibers. A high lignin material is found between the fibers. This
material can also act as natural glue. All you've got to do is shred the coconut husk and
press it into a mold. Then heat it up to a few hundred degrees and it will turn into a solid
board that is similar to medium density fiberboard. You don't add any extra glue or filler.
It can be created from 100% pure coconut husk. This can mold construction similar t o
regular fiberboards. Coconut boards are even being thought-about to be used in
automobile floorboards.

2. Rope made from Coconut Husk

The machine cost 3-8lakh. Coconut fibers are mostly used in creating natural fiber ropes. As
coconut coir is natural and can resist fiberboard, it is commonly used as equipment in fishing
net and boat. Most of these ropes are really strong.

3. Activated Carbon:
Coconut shells are one of the best materials for producing activated carbon which is used in
filters. Coconut shells usually are denser and are enclosed in micropores that are perfect for
trapping small impurity particles. It is comparatively cheaper renewable material that is present
throughout the year.

16 | P a g e
4. Floor Mats:
Coconut fiber-based mats are now much popular due to its unique quality and hard uses. It
removes dust very efficiently.

CONCLUSION:
Vintel Industries LLP is a coconut oil processing firm. Which provides both B2B and B2C services
from our study on the firm we have found that the company is undergoing a labour attrition
problem. As there is a demand for company’s oil but due to labour attrition company wasn’t able
met the customer demand.

So we have given the above solution to the company which will be helpful to the company in
reducing attrition rate in the firm. As our suggestion doesn’t involve heavy cost to the firm. As
labors are the backbone of the company our suggestions will help the firm to reduce attrition rate
in the firm. So company could retain its existing labors in the firm. And also newly joined laborers
will be motivated to work in the firm.
